Weird bikes, bike innovation and bike contraptions

I wonder where the advantage is, 34T leverage with 36T movement? It doesn't really say in the article...or I may have got distracted (as in bored).
He seems to imply that there's less stiction/friction in the chain (since fewer links are moving? I'unno). Seems like a very small source for some very big claimed wattage gains. Seems like he's making big claims while the actual-data from the lab is "pending." I have an oval on all my bikes. Does it help? I'unno that either. But I needed new chainrings and figured I'd try it out.
