What beer are you drinking RIGHT NOW?

I mean, it wasn't bad... but yeah, a little to overpowering.
Founders Breakfast stout is still king in this category imo.
Yeah the Founders does have all the flavors but a bit more muted than Mokah.
I've got some of each in the basement, and the in-laws coming for dinner- may have to do a chocolate-coffee-stout tasting.

Coffee and chocolate overpowering...meh. Hop overpowering....Yea!
Ah, see, flip these around, and that's where I'm at, at least this time of year.

Can't go wrong with either one.
Both are at the head of the class.

The Fort Collins that Bill mentioned is really good too...

Yeah I was impressed with the Fort Collins chocolate stout. Pretty good stuff. It wasn't terribly chocolatey like I expected but still pretty tastey. They have a chocolate double stout I almost bought. Might try that next.

Goose Island just makes good beers ... It's what they do. Trying the Nut Brown Ale right now.

Saturday night special

Triple header-
Choco-coffee stout tasting-
Side by side, all strong contenders, but yeah against the others, the Southern Tier tasted a little syrupy. Makes for a good dessert beer.

The winner?
I guess I'd have to agree with Jeremy- Founders,
although this second taste of the 3 Beans was better than the first impression.

Have you tried their 2xIPA?
That might suit ya.

the 2x IPA is *oh-kayy* but i'll grab DFH90 Minute over that every time (with Union Jack getting the nod over 90 Minute followed very closely by Ithaca Flower Power)

on the stouts, the Sierra Nevada Narwhal Imperial is just excellent as is the Terrapin Moo-Hoo.

just be careful with that Narwhal...it's 10.2% but doesn't drink like it. two of those too fast and it's lights out.

sierra nevada ruthless rye.....again. luckily they didn't have the narwal (wtf is a narwal anyway.....stupid fish)

I've been looking for this- how do you like it?
Would it go far in the stout bracket?

I've been buying it at the Wine Country in Clifton for years. I'd be surprised if the Shop Rite of Byram liquors doesn't carry it because they do nearly everything else 🙂. But let me know if you'd like to have me pick you up a bottle.

It would do well in the stout category although "technically" it's a Belgian Imperial stout.

Thanks for the offer, let me keep looking-
If I can't find it, may take you up on that.
You're probably right about Byram, will include that in my hard target search.
