What have you done to your bike today?

Washed off all the @soundz filth raised my post and swapped 29+ to the Mac Daddys. Lost a full pound. How many can say that? Then plowed the trails for a quick hour.

looking for a dynamo light for the BG update, got any for sale?

Unfortunately, none that are still in one piece. I bought them from bike24/bike-discount.de, though, since the exchange rate is so favorable right now.

Actually, the rear might work if you want it, but the corner of the lens is cracked (rack mount, btw, with wire).

Question:
will a 10 spd SRAM shifter/derailleur work with an 11 spd cassette?
Have a 42T 11spd cassette I'm considering to move to another bike with 10 spd drive. Will of course use a 11 spd chain.

It sounds possible on Shimano since the 11spd cassette fits on a 10spd hub. SRAM I'm pretty sure is wider so it may be out of its range.

shimano and sram cassettes are interchangeable. You can use sram cassete with shimano drivetrain (assuming the same #spd).

Generally speaking you cannot mix a shifter and cassette with different #spd.

specifically Sunrace 11spd cassette to XO1 shifter and derailleur, but I don't think it matters

one thing most on the webz are saying is that you can't use 11spd shifters and derailleurs on a 10spd cassette. I haven't tried either, but thought based on this, it wouldn't work with the config I was after.

Dropped it at Halter's!

50+ hour service.....kinda sad, only 50 hours in a year.
couple tires and a chain, fork service, etc....

like how it feels to own an exotic car

I'm feeling lazy on the tires and chain, but it is in there, so let them have at it.
also liked that w/i 2 seconds of walking in, @jdog noticed the shock and fork were over-filled, cause
he knew i went to wildcat, and looked at the travel indicators.

Think i've mentioned this before - I can spend hours collecting info, canvassing people, and analyzing data,
or walk into HT, HG, or Halters, and just ask what i need. They know where i am, and my price points.
Done. Best investment ever, the Hope tech 2 brakes - thanks @jimvreeland ..... yeah, they replaced elixers.

you ever thought about putting a hanger on that? I'm considering it, but not to race like you
I thought about it for a second once, but then I remembered that your race is pretty much over on a bolt on horizontal drop out with or without a derailleur. You have to be pretty well aligned for it to work right and it takes a bit to take a wheel off and on already. If you want to set it up that way as a gravel/road bike then sure. Just go with some beefy tires and tubes so you have more flat protection. Shifter housing would also not be pretty since you have to zip tie it to your frame. I love the bike as is. If you want it to do something else, get something else. I'll get a geared cross bike when I can afford it, but I don't know if I can let this one go. Thanks @BCurry!

Went to Wildcat Wednesday a few weeks ago. Wildcat tried to eat my rear derailleur. The sacrificial bolt for the RD hanger was toast, and the hanger was OK and RD seemed OK.

It took a while to get the replacement hanger bolt. I installed it along with a used RD acquired a couple years ago on The Silk Road. The RD works better with a used chain than with a new chain.

Got my XtC back from Hb tonight with new RD (GX > NX, #upgrade) and a new chain. Also, one tooth on chainring was bent, so that may have exacerbated the chain/RD problem. Tooth straightened and smoothed. Eric took out 10mm spacer too, cause why not?

Front brake started rubbing as 2 of the pistons wouldn't retract adequately. Fresh Dot 5.1 and a bleed didn't fix it, so I removed all 4 pistons and cleaned out the pots, cleaned the pistons and checked the seals. Reinstalled with fresh Dot 5.1 and new pads. Brake works and feels like new.
