What's your go-to Maxxis tires?

My Maxxis Ignitor has a nice tear in the side from riding behind my house. There's a ton of glass (hadn't been back there in a while) and it's ruined.

Replace with another Ignitor? I primarily ride JH in my free time, so it's pretty hard packed most of the time.

Also, the bike shop I went to suggested Candy2's to throw onto my bike for clipless pedals. I tried my friends regular eggbeaters and didn't have too much of a problem, but I do like the tiny failsafe of a platform that the candy's have.

If I said something stupid, don't go all elitist on me. I'm still learning.

I like my ignitor up front and a crossmark on the rear i too ride jh alot and never had a problem with this setup

Say things were to get a little muddy, the Ardent would grip better with the wider outer knobs, right?

Honestly, there is not a good tire out there when its wet. However I think its one of the best of the worst. If you know what I mean.

Well, it'll at least kick up mud even if I don't have forward acceleration? 😀

Sounds like a good time for a photo shoot.

Agreed on High Roller for the rear, in looser or damper conditions. But for hard pack, I've been almost exclusively on the Larsen TT LUSTs and love 'em. Light weight and you can run 'em tubeless with a nice low pressure, which almost makes it feel like you're on a full suspension bike.

I do have a full suspension bike. My rear tube is patched and has been for a month, but the more I ride, the more I see the tube bulging out where the tear in the tire is.

+1 on the Crossmark rear. It doesn't look like much (knobbies) but it is pretty light and rolls fast. I have it flipped around reverse rotation for a little extra grip. Not awesome in the wet, but predictable, but sticks to rocks like a champ.

Thats my 2 cents

I've been running the aspens mainly for the last year and they are amazing. Crazy how they grip. Probably my favorite tire for 99% of the riding I have done this year. The crossmark is almost as good, but it's a little heavier, a little slower, and gets clogged up more. I have some monorails that I use sometimes, but I don't think they make them anymore.

i just picked up a crossmark for my back tire based on this thread. I was able to pick it up at a lbs, which is a plus. I tried to mount it tubeless last night on my stans but the bead did not want to seat. Put a tube in, mounted tire and let it sit overnight then tried tubeless set-up again today...success. Looking forward to testing out performance this weekend.
