So after 15 years+ with my Sidi Storms (which are still going strong, incredibly), I think I'm going to knuckle-down for a pair of Wolvhammers (based in large part from recommendations in this thread):

Today, I wear 5 hour toe warmers, full neoprene boot covers and leave enough room for air. I'm ok for first 2-3 hours, then the cold starts to make it's way in. The booties get all ripped up after only a half a season of riding so they're covered in duct tape, and my Storms (one of the earlier models) have plastic soles :hmmm: which are useless when stepping off the bike on rocks, ice or anything slick.
My question is on sizing. I'm a 14 street shoe, 48 Specialized summer MTB shoes, and my winter Sidi's are 50 to allow for some room in the toe box. They make the Wolvhammers up to size 50. For those that have them, what size do you recommend I buy? Thread above says they run true to size, but I assume everyone's experience could vary.
Thanks
