The first scheduled trail work day of 2016 is this Saturday 3/12/16.
The current plan is to ride the inner trails w/ saws, clippers, axe. Riding, stopping, riding, fixing this winters storm damage. Removing the blowdowns and clipping back the face slappers. Bring your bike, helmet, hydration, sense of humor, and meet in the Batsto parking lot at 9:00. We'll be back before 12:30. All are invited. Thanks!

The current TWC forecast for the 3/26/16 night ride looks promising. Sunset is at 7:18pm.

Other then that, all the usual. Meet near the trailhead. Wheels out at 6:00 pm, or maybe 6:15. Casual conversational pace. Helmet and light required. Copious amount of humor more or less mandatory. Rain cancels. The WSF staff allows JORBA members and other WSF trail volunteers to meet after dark in the Batsto Visitor Center parking lot for this ride. Please do not park in this lot after hours w/o prior permission. You will be visited by the Park Police.

Trail Work Thanks!
Pibbles and me rode back to the NE corner early Sunday to clean up some items. We got some unexpected axe-time assistance from Mr. Akeret, followed by two other riders (one a first-time rider!) that were just pedaling thru. With their help we quickly got rid of the large double trunked oak that was across the trail. Thanks guys! Also saw Spike and her buds, and learned they cleared up one of the messes that was on our to-do list. Thanks!
Forest Fire
There was/is a forest fire burning on the Atsion side of Wharton Forest yesterday. News reports say that as of last night, the fire is 75% contained with 113 acres burned.

Dang it, missed it. :(

Three of us rode the PBT at a moderate pace. Lights were turned on w/ 6 miles to go. Good ride with a lot of humor, two crashes, one late arrival, and one misplaced wallet.
That ride was the last item of our September '15-to-April '16 season schedule. We'll likely to be still be posting up storm recovery work and the occasional odd ride during the summer.
