Sitting in the back of my truck, waiting for a tow in the ShopRite parking lot. Ice cream melting and milk going bad. 🤬
Dude, you just wrote the best blues song ever!

Put this in the “things that make you smile” thread. 🙂

The internets tells me it’s the starter and that it’s a common issue. Called the dealership this morning and was told they may not get to it for a week or two. :dead:

v6? i dont see any hemi badges in your picture so i can only assume.

HEMI 5.7L … 14mpg average. :dead:

your doing something wrong, my hemi gets 19-20 mixed driving and 24 straight highway . . . . i will also note that starters are not something i have ever heard being common failure on these (unless the 5th gens something changed, do you have that etorque crap?), and iv had 2 5.7s over the last 11 ish years and been fairly active in the online scene, and not something iv had to do myself in over 200k miles.

My 5th Gen with regular 5.7 hemi gets +/- 18 mpg. I've had as good as 21 once on highway when it was new with stock tires but knocked a solid 1+ mpg off when I put on the Nitto Ridge Grapplers. Seems to be climbing again now as they are worn. 2023's seem to have the 5.7 Hemi ONLY as Etorque and start/stop.

For mine, generally good, no starter issues to date just under 70K . Most annoying problem was exhaust flange bolts snapped. Dealer hosed me, I'd never have gone there but thought it was warranty. I get water sloshing now in front of the dash after heavy rains as some drain I can't find has some crap in it. I do have a new "tick" on the passenger side when started and cold. I think I have some exhaust manifold bolts starting to snap (my guess). Goes away when hot. Did you have any exhaust manifold bolt issues?

I thought starter problems were a thing of the past, unless you kept a car for over 150K miles.

People letting their dogs shit all over the multi use trails
Bailey L in order to keep me honest and avoid falling off the wagon always poops on the initial section of the trail running along the Ryerson parking lot, preferably with a bunch of MTBers watching. As a result I have to carry the precious cargo for the whole duration of the walk. Sometimes I hide it in a specific place and pick it up on my way back but I don't particularly like to do that. Nothing worse than riding over a fresh turd on the trail, most of the times it's a front/rear double whammy...wel, stepping into it is no fun either...

i have had no issues with mine, only scheduled regular maintenance currently at 123k.

Mine is a 2020. I have oversized AT tires which throws the OD off 2mph. I’m probably closer to 17-18 average. I also removed the front air dam for better clearance when I drive on the beach. That definitely hurt the gas mileage. I drive like my wife is about to give birth and I’m trying to get her to the hospital (which actually happened to us). I’m still chasing that high man. 😅

Yes. I also had a bed door misalignment, which was a recall. I’m assuming this problem is the starter based on what I deduced after trying to jump it, the sounds I’m hearing-and what I read about the 5th gens. On the positive side, I feel pretty confident I can now swap an engine after 3 hours of YouTube videos.

Yeah i thought about removing the air dam. I also chickened out on the tires and got the aggressive tred but in the same size

i guess you still have warranty on it if you sent it to the dealer, good luck with that timeline, starter isnt usually too bad to DIY in the driveway, but if the dealer is paying for it instead of you then . . . .
