Also more accurate.
Kidding aside, who's actually 'predicting' the weather ? Is the forecast done by a central agency and the many weatherman just flexes her/his muscles on TV or they have an actual role in the interpretation of the radar (or should I a day chicken bones)?
NWS (NOAA) prepares local briefs, which everyone (including you) have access to, as well as raw data. https://www.weather.gov/forecastmaps https://www.weather.gov/briefing/ https://graphical.weather.gov/sectors/nemetro.php#tabs (this map should look very familiar--with some graphical tweaking--to anyone who watches TV news).
You can read collated data for a specific location if you input your zip or city/state. If you understand basic meteorology, you can interpret the various projections to see whether it's going to be clear, gathering clouds, storm, etc in the near future. It is generally agreed that forecasting weather (verses general trends) past 5-6 days might as well be magic.
Real meteorologists work for NOAA, the people on TV are communications majors, because it turns out...you can't really sue them for implying they're scientists.
If you're cool [read: damaged] like me, you can literally feel pressure changes in your bones, and know when rain is coming 🙂
