Water Company Trails Conditions

I guess I got there right after you left.
This is tree one: Rockhopper Trailhead, blue trail to yellow. I cut the left side through, and most of the right side, but those yellow jackets got me at least 20 times.
I will go back and finish it after the first frost kills them. Until then, good luck riding yellow.

The tree is cleared. So one out of two.
Now for some trail maintenance porn. Here's how we get to the fallen trees.

Thanks Jim!
Sorry to hear about the stings, most likely we will spray that area. Thanks again!

Welp, the bees on yellow nailed me again while looking for the nest and I was a solid 10' from where I think the are. I rode around on 518 to hit yellow.

Picked up a bunch of branches on the connector to the gravel road and there is a small tree across the trail on the connector between Halloween hill and the other end of red (is that the blue trail?). Otherwise good conditions

Sorry to hear that you and others are getting stung. I do appreciate the posts as I got stung 3 years ago on Afghan chunk and landed in the ER (I'm allergic). Won't be riding here anytime soon

I cleared all of the trees on red, and I did some trimming on the trail that comes from 518, however I ran out of time to finish the whole thing. As far as I know, the only remaining trees are the bee tree on yellow, one very close to that one and then one on the blue trail over by the gravel utility cut. The dirt is primo.

A new tree is down across yellow just a bit south of where yellow meets blue. I will try to remove it in a few days. I see someone did clear the yellow jacket log. I bet that person has my yellow plastic wedge.
The rest of the trail is great. I've never seen it so dry.

It wouldn’t be water co if a tree wasn’t on the trails…

What's the latest on MTBs being allowed on the Pleasant Valley Trail to connect to WaterCo from Baldpate? I saw a sign about endangered habitat or something so have been connecting via paved roads...

Are you referring to the Pleasant Valley trail in baldpate or the greenway trail from Woodens to 518?

If you are talking about the Pleasant Valley Trail, the small leg with the hiker in the map above is actually the Powerline cut and the Grist Mill Trail is hiking only. Grist Mill Trail is the one with the gate at the bottom and I think says no horses. Otherwise, the whole pleasant valley trail is approved for mountain biking by Mercer County Park. Take into consideration how many people you have ever seen on the Grist Mill trail to determine the risk of riding it and being caught.

Yes, I was talking about the PV Trail section, not greenway trail. I saw the endangered habitat/no bikes sign higher up the PV trail...maybe even shortly after snake descent. There was nothing on official websites to provide any helpful info on this. I also wonder about the logic of officially allowing bikes on the PV trail but making Grist Mill Trail hikers only. Are we supposed to do a U-turn and climb back up to Baldpate?

My point is that I would like to comply with the rules because ..well...anthropocene...

Got the big boi by the barn coming from 518. Slight trail reroute. Trunk was between 20-24”, had to use my Irish stubbornness and some battle cries to move these ones.

Also completed a heavy trim of the greenway today.

The grassy side of red/Halloween hill needs a trim again🙄.
It is going to be a great fall here.

This place goes hard with the blow downs…
Got the trees on the grassy side of red and started trimming from the end of the rocks to Halloween hill. Most of Halloween hill is tall Japanese stilt grass, which I am hoping to get in the coming weeks. Coming in from lambertville on blue is a mess with the grass too.

There is another tree mess by the rock garden on blue by the 4 way.

Halloween Hill is trimmed from the red/blue intersection to the "top" of the hill where the opening to the field is. There is about 250 feet left to trim but it really isnt bad and is relatively quick work compared to HH.

The tree on blue is cleared (not by me) and yellow is fully opened.

Red is fully trimmed. One of the already bad bridges met its maker with a tree breaking it in half.

The only “bad” part is blue between red and the gravel road into lambertville, which is pretty bad in spots with the tall grass. There is a chance someone gets the brush hog out there but I will not be working on it.

Happy to report that the greenway trail is absolutely Rippin’, so happy this trail is back to its former glory.
