There are many people who live in NJ and work in NYC that spend that much time commuting every week.NJ is too crowded and overpriced so OP moved the F out.
Then OP rented a place back in NJ and commutes 13.5 hours/week to live and work where it's too crowded and overpriced while his family relaxes in paradise.
ok, please present the population and traffic data that support your claims
I’m just trolling, seeing how many people really haven’t blocked me.What really IS the point of this conversation lol
Well, it’s simple. If you want money, money, money, and benefits, you come to New Jersey. If you want quality of life you leave New Jersey unfortunately I’m a little selfish and want both. So here I am spending 3 1/2 days of my life in Newark every week.NJ is terrible and getting worse and those of us who live in NJ are idiots. Maybe?

And I will. I’ve stated several times at this was a really good offer and a time when I was getting out of my other job and didn’t have anything immediately on the table. I also stated that it’s temporary. I guess this post is more about realizing how horrible the quality of life is here once I started working here again. Is flying out at 6 AM on a Tuesday morning and flying home at 8 PM on a Friday any different than what I do? This is what people do all the time. Our truck drivers are away from home 345 days a week or one through two weeks at a time. This may not be perfect for the family, but are in a different situation that isn’t better.you can make money in other parts of the country doe
at a certain dollar amount it makes sense. im struggling to find out what the amount is for me personallyAnd I will. So what is the perfect situation? I have a couple buddies that are retired under 40 and you would think that would be the life goal. All they want to do that is go back to work. What about all the work from homers? Some have done it forever, summer and great positions and some hate it. One of my best friends works from home since Covid started but can’t do anything as far as his hobbies after 8 AM. He works 25 to 35% more every day and has one less than he needs. It’s to the point they are actually looking for an office to rent just to get away from the house me personally, I would love to work from home, but it’s not in the cards right now.
I’m not saying it’s not possible to have a decent quality of life at all in NJ. But between working long hours at a high-paying job most likely far from your house to live in a cheaper neighborhood other option is you work a high, paying job and too many hours closer to your work in an expensive neighborhood that is overly congested, maybe a different story if someone that owns their own company chimes in. I’m just curious if it’s so freaking nice why doesn’t anyone buy a vacation home in New Jersey? They always go to Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, New York, etc..I feel like my quality of life in NJ is pretty good. Certainly that isn't the case for everyone, but that's true no matter what state you look at.

But who wants to work their entire life?!Almost as if people have different priorities and things that they value in their lives and then make decisions based on that. There is no perfect situation, only the situation that is the best compromise of all of these different factors for you.
