Things that make you frown :(

This here is the exact situation. A standard external hex would have been perfect here

Ok, so this will not let go of my brain today.

While I still think a stubby would have possibly cut it, before destroying a 10mm Allen socket (as close as sacrilege as I can fathom) you could have used a hex head M6 bolt with a nut or two (head is 10mm) to give the wrench purchase.

I feel slightly better now.

no tools were destroyed in the completion of this job, does that make you feel better?

i took one of these and knocked the bit out of the holder, (they are removable), did the job and then put it back together for future use. (not this exact set, but same build setup)

and to be fair this was all likely caused by compartmentalization and limited communication between the groups (trans, engine, chassis guys all worked in a vacuum, or at least thats my theory)

I thought we all just cut up the keys we all have from crappy toolsets we don't normally use?
We?

Thank you for letting me know.

Today during my road ride I stopped at the Columbia trail parking lot at Naughtright road which is where it’s closed between that lot and middle valley road. We stopped just to use the Porto John. Trail is clearly marked closed and under construction. There’s a really easy way to bypass this 1.5 mile section by taking the road which essentially runs parallel to the trail.

Does that stop the entitled aholes running or even riding bikes with a kid trailer - nope. In the 5 minutes we were there several riders just kept going. It’s not even a completed surface it’s just QP that’s getting messed up.

My friend saw me getting more angry and wisely said let’s go before you throw someone off their bike and the cops get called. He wasn’t that far off.

/rant over. Maybe.

If it is just a start capacitor, a picture is worth $1k!!!!

yes it is, wife found the system making 'funny noises' while water her plants(7ish last night), last minute sprint to ace hardware(720 by the time i daignosed and they closed at 8) for a replacement. $40 well spent, but i woulda spent double or even triple to have this sucker back online last night 🤣

you think the service call to replace that woulda been $1k? OMG

i also ordered a spare to stick on the shelf for the inevitable next time.

Hearing some stories from some HVAC, plumber and roofing people I know, it's shocking how they get away with outright fraud. And regularly with no checks and balances from any watchdog entity. How can people be so shitty?
Someone I was friends with back in elementary school's claim to fame was getting busted on one of those hidden camera TV shows. He had an HVAC Co. and was caught on video doing something to a perfectly good AC and then giving the customer a several thousand dollar estimate.

Sounds like a dick, but props to a kid in elementary school starting an HVAC biz so young!
