Looks like the kid was on a Surron from the scene pics, and t-boned the landscaping truck (could be wrong on that). I'll lay money down that the kid was not wearing a lid either.

Very sad.

Somewhat sad are the immediate comments on local FB pages, which, without facts, blame the 13 year old kid and all kids on bikes.

Looks like I run my Niterider Sabre 110 on Pulse Flash. This video shows all the different settings.
The Garmin Varia has a similar setting. I may change to this to the default but I really doubt it will change the behavior of the approx 1 out of 5 drivers who dont know about the new 4 foot passing law or dont care and think road cyclists belong on the sidewalk. (or any cyclist for that matter). Wouldnt matter if I was on a eBike either.

Came to mention the article that was already posted its just so sad these high powered eBikes are being ridden by kids with no driving/road experience. Thats not to say bad things cant happen on regular bikes (see all the news reports of mobs of kids riding wheelies on regular bikes) but the surrons and off brand fast ebikes just make it more likely for accidents to happen IMHO. terrible to read someone's kid died regardless of the situation. sigh.

The pictures are gold, Jerry, gold!

That kid must have done something to piss off those cops hard.

Really, is this any different than if they bought the kid a 125cc dirt bike and he was riding that around illegally? Outside of the noise.

I get a couple <125cc dirt bikes on our street now and then. TBH they are connecting where they ride. They are at a reasonable speed and do slow down, unlike the throttle e-bikes.

I'm late 50's not best health, e-bike helps me do the climbs and still enjoy the down and flat parts... Bosch cx let's me turn the boost up and down as needed, still get my heart beat up, still working the quads and not gasping and out of breath at the top...
this is where the ebike thing gets so complicated. 100% agree for someone like you or my late friend that got sick, can use an ebike to still get out there and enjoy riding (road or trails) safely and "properly".

sadly it all gets mixed up into one category with the articles and past experiences of teens and adults riding surrons and doing wheelies all over the road or ripping up the rail trails. Some of the older adults on the wacky ebikes on the rail trails are not much better in terms of proper riding when they blow past me at 25+ mph and buzz me and dont all out or anything.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say way more people are killed by people do intentionally stupid things while driving a car. Maybe all Mustangs should be banned. That would be a good start.
