Chimney Rock Conditions

Well I finally worked up the courage to do it and rolled it. Once today was enough for me. It’s over in a flash but feels like your bike is perpendicular to earth for that brief moment. Will definitely do it again. 👍
Good to hear! Yesterday I finally remembered to record it, you just saved me the trouble of figuring out how to attach video here (if possible) haha.

This morning’s spotty showers were enough to tip the trails into that goldilocks state of just the right balance of dried out soil and moisture. Yes, my friends, I am talking about… Hero Dirt making an appearance at the Rock. 😀

Stuck to red and blue this afternoon.

Only soft section of red was that one spot climbing up from Newmans.

Everywhere else was primo.

Then I did most of blue including the connectors. The S turns at the back of blue have dried out and were tacky.

Didn’t come across any mud.

Go get it.

Is the trail that used to be across that road accessible? I tried to follow it last week but it came back to the road. Might just be gone?
Just rode it. It’s plainly visible right across the road. It needs a little bit of clean up but still totally rideable. It just parallels the new runway. It goes to the right towards Vosseluer too but I didn’t check that out.

Rolled the new to me roll on the way to Cromwell with no fanfare. And to @Juggernaut’s point. If my head is 5’ higher and I faceplant off of it shouldn’t those 5’ count?

Pretty sure that was always there, it just was not as noticeable when the whole trail was in the woods.

Now that it's at the side of the road at the point where you're looking to pick up trail again, it stands out more. Either way I always meant to go down it and see where exactly it pops out, I might have to do that next time.

we can do it tonight

Sessioned Cromwell and hit Yellow from baseball field lot, all were perfect. So many new things on Stop Sign!!!!
I did that too today! So much progress. Great work, Jdog! Will be sending some bucks over to Jorba.

The fresh dirt is still a bit soft, but loved those fresh, sharp lips.

There’s a clear A and B line through here now.

Fresh reddish dirt…. I thought I was at 6 mile for a second.

Of course I had to pay a visit to my new favorite trail feature too. It gets slightly less scary for me each time.

Unfortunately, my ride was marred by some hikers who did not step out of my way even after I politely asked them to scoot along. Took their picture to publicly shame them! 😡

Hit up a bit of everything; yellow, black, Cromwell, orange, blue and white. Zero trees down on the route I took.

Hope you got out there today because tomorrow’s storms will put a damper on conditions in the coming days.

I noticed this pile of rocks after that small rock drop on one of blue’s connectors. What kind of feature is it? Is it a jump? Seems awful close to the tree behind it. Was just curious why someone piled up the stones there in that spot.

We have pretty much rebuilt the stop sign trail now for the 3rd time. We have taken the time to build the berms much bigger and add more drainage. The hope here is that is adds some durability to the trail tread. We have been putting in some serious hrs over the last month as we wanted to hit this trail before the heat as it has less shade on the pending hot days of summer.
