Spring Silence: Uncoiling the Fat Dragon

Ok it's mid-Friday, I have 2 things:

1. I'm pretty much ready. I could do this race tomorrow if I had to.

2. I shaved again this morning to look pretty for Sunday. And that's it. I'm done with this f'ing experiment. The first time was time consuming and a little annoying. This was just painful and masochistic. I was going to keep this up for a month so I could give it a fair shot to say I did it. But holy hell this is ridiculous. The benefit of doing this cannot possibly outweigh the pain in having to maintain this.

did you lube first?

Norm, please tell me you are not shaving your legs dry. The thought of that is making me cringe.

Secondly, you men shave your legs more then I do. There is something about that sentence that doesn't sit well with me. Nothing like showing up to a race/ride and having more hair on MY legs then every guy there.

This was just painful and masochistic.

so you liked it then?!? 😀

seriously though if it's the comfort and maintenance factor IMO it gets easier, like learning to shave for the first time... sensitivity dulls and it gets easier to do and maintain... but if it's just not you then it's just not you...

Jake - yes, I lubed before, during, then after. As I stood in the kitchen watching small spots of blood appear all over my legs like the onset of some f'ing alien disease, I said to myself, "That's it, no more of this shit."

Mandi - this was the second time ever. The first time I dry shaved and it was no issue at all. A little itchy later in the day, but all in all not bad. Right now 1/3 of my pores have turned into small red spots on my legs. I look like I have chicken pox in some spots. By Sunday it should be ok, but that's it. I'm going back to the doofus that shows up to road rides with hairy legs and a friggin mtb helmet visor on.

Yeah I'm sure I'll get used to it. But to maintain this I would need to dedicate hours every week to it. I could do so many more productive things with those 2 hours, like throwing cinder blocks out of my second floor window or setting couches on fire.

No, the visor lives on. I can't imagine what pain trying to remove that will cause.

I was 98% sure that you would reach this logical conclusion. I better understand why people smoke crack.

By shaving your legs, you are stating, unequivocally, that you are willing to spend an extra five minutes every other day with a razor, just so you can look like other cyclists. It's like getting a tattoo that way, except you don't have to re-get the tattoo three times per week.

hahahahahahahahahaha!

Legs are to be carefully shaved at all times. If, for some reason, your legs are to be left hairy, make sure you can dish out plenty of hurt to shaved riders, or be considered a hippie douche on their way to a Critical Mass.

rule #33

I like the ending.

By the end of the week, you will have caved in and shaved again. Which may explain, when it comes right down to it, why cyclists continue to shave their legs, long after they discover it doesn't actually make them any faster.

I have four words for you....elec tric trim mer
Once every couple weeks. Those words weren't supposed to be part of the count FYI

Yeah I'll go with hairy and pain delivering.

Ya im going with this as well...its win/win. If we are in shape and fast and can beat a few leg shavers...win. If we get out of shape and go back to cat 3 status, our legs are all set.
