The BearScat 50!!!!!!!

Yeah, I struggle with that one too. This is one race where it would be wise to check the ego at the start line. I have to remind myself that I will be racing the course as much or more than the other racers.

I'll pin it right off the bat and be a bloody knotted up mess by the time I hit the furnace on the first lap.

Huge lack of self control.

I have only raced Waywayanda onnce(2010) and really do not know the park that well other than the section te race course was on. It was a fun and very challenging course. I was wondering how much climbing to expect for the Bearscat 50. I really like climbing but it is the rocks and technical sections that have me worried.

Looking forward to the race!

Thank you.

It's about 2700 feet of climbing per 25 mile lap.

This is a sound strategy for the Bearscat. I hope my the rest of my competition adopts the same philosophy.
Bill, TJ, Claude, Foco & I did another full lap today. For the most part the course is in great shape. I only hope the gas co. does something about Cabin between now and race day. It's really just a terrible muddy slimehole.

Me as Dave laid down our strategy via text just a second a go. We both agree we have 6+ hours of hammer in us and that means lots of trouble for all the SS open racers...it's gonna be the SS apocalypse. Jk.

Actually looking Forward to this

I just bid on 10 gallons of EPO. Main line that shit from camelback to aorta. Rumor mill has Pearl being offered a spot, we'll see if he grabs some sack.

I lost count at Stewart of how many people asked me if I was doing this race. My reply was generally something akin to what Pearl said.

Scat in da House

It's going to be a great time! The couse is so much fun.😀 great job by Blackbear on putting together such a monster loop. Although, The hardest part will be avoiding Rattle snakes and Bears😉.

BTW, the last 5 miles are on 'rolly' fire road, but the prior 20 miles of singletrack is going to take maximum focus each lap. Pacing yourself will be key as will riding clean lines. Going up "rattlesnake" on the 2nd loop on the single speed is going to be nasty. Don't miss out on some of hte best of what waway has to offer. If you can get in, do it!:getsome:

I'm going to head up there to do one lap of the course tomorrow. I'm not doing the race, but I was looking for a longish ride for tomorrow, and I don't ride waway nearly enough. Wheels down around 9am, intermediate/intermediate+ pace if anyone wants to join. I don't know the course, but I grabbed a gpx off garmin connect.

Jim, a couple of us are riding a bit earlier if interested.

If you are planning on riding the course over the next few days I would suggest when you get to the top of Rattlesnake just cross the pipeline to Pines Trail. Skip the Tombstone, Turkey Ridge and Cabin loop as the road up Cabin is in bad shape. If it doesn't get better by next week that section may be taken out. This will be a decision based conditions as the week goes on.

I have to practice breaking my bike and crying about it... But for real new SPD's going on tomorrow and brake pads f/r so I'll be all dialed in

Is the BS50 gonna be a mass start? or staggered categories start...anyone know the dealio.

Lost Garmin Edge

I lost my Garmin Edge yesterday while pre-riding. Happened within the first 5 miles of the course. While highly unlikely, if someone does find it please let me know.

Thanks
