If allergies trigger Asthma then like altitude training. The sinus headache sux. FWI - Methamphetamine can be made from sudafed, hence the massive waivers.

Save your money on this http://www.trainingmask.com/ - get asthma. BTW - I know people that use that thing.

As long as you think you have allergens in the air take the Claritin. Don't vacuum or roll around on the floor. IN fact, pay someone to vacuum and leave the house.

In all seriousness. The way you feel may be more than just the allergies. I can only relate my own experience. Last year was a huge struggle for me. It hurt everytime I rode my bike until mid May. This year is the total opposite. I will have to get out on the road bike and do an hour test but I FEEL a lot stronger than ever. I am curious if you just get to a point and have to push through the mud to achieve the next level. Almost like your stuck between over-trained and almost there.

Amstel light - I have 12 pack in my garage from a long time ago.

It's possible but for now I think there are enough signs that point to allergies. I've always gotten a runny nose in the spring when I ride, and I've had them once before. It seems like this year is an oddball - lots of people who usually have them are free this year, and vice versa.

I'm also wondering if this has always happened to me but this is just the first year it's bad enough that I put it together. I was texting you the other day that I feel bloated, which is what my body seems to do when it comes across any sort of adversity (sickness, riding a lot, lack of sleep, and maybe allergies?). Being the numbers guy that I am, I went back and looked over the last few years. After every winter, right around this time, my weight slowly creeps up. I usually see my highest weight of the year in the spring, right around allergy season. Then it starts to fall in June, usually.

I'm just gonna ride it out, figuratively and literally, and see what happens. It's a good thing in a way because now it explains a bit how I went from having a solid race in ST#3 then right to shit for ST#4. It also allows me to dumb down expectations until it passes.

If it keeps on into June then I'll need to look into it further.

Oishi's Pizza is the BOMB!!!

I realize you were suffereing from the lung aids on saturday, but that aside, your bike handling looked really solid. I gave it 100% to try to drop you on that last downhill and couldnt, so I think your back on track there.

So Far So Good

My weather.com app tells me that the allergies are going to be "suck and more suck" today. I don't know what that means really. I'm not into prognostication so much as seeing how things go. I was always really terrible at gambling, no matter how much I followed the sport at hand. I still believe that with a large enough purse you could make a career at betting on sports. It's all just numbers, and with every loss you need to simply bet enough on the next game to cover the last loss. How can this fail? If you're working on a 50-50 proposition I don't see how that can fail. Admittedly, you need a large seed and a lot of faith in your system.

I digress. As has been proven in the past, the weather reports are usually as accurate as Dave Kingman's batting average* in the last year of his career.

I feel pretty good this morning, and now that I'm in the city, I don't think it should go too badly in the other direction. Once I go home (a bit before 4:00 today) that may go out the window. But feeling good so far. Got in about 7:00 this morning - early day for the early bail so I can make the A ride. Start time is 6:00 now, which is standard summer hours.

I continue to digress. Dave Kingman is also calling for possible rain tonight, which would suck. He's also suggesting - hold on to your hat - a 40% chance for Sunday. My brakes and bike don't like that. My sinuses are in love with the idea though. I don't think course conditions are going to go badly regardless. And gear selection is set no matter what happens. The course will be fast rain or shine. A fresh spring shower to lead into the race might not be an awful thing. Just so long as it stops then and allows for a nice after party, that would be good.

Anyway, it is what it is.

Tonight I think I'm planning on letting the sprints go again but be a tad more aggressive elsewhere. Thinking the golf course, the rollers before the dairy farm, and the 2nd sprint point climb might be good spots to hit it. And Liberty is what it is. I don't think that record goes tonight but you never know. Lots of wind out there to make the ride hurt. Then again, even though I hid last week I still ended up with a pretty high power number and Liberty almost went down. I guess we'll see what the ride ends up looking like.

Ok gotta run. Time is tight this week.

* .210, really awful. But he hit 35 HRs and drove in 94. 126 Ks, which is more than the number of hits he had (118)

When I was getting my teeth cleaned the tube said allergies were all extremely low with all the rain. You said you were dead at some point yesterday, correct? I would blame mold in the workplace so you can WFH.

No, yesterday was fine. I took some meth because I felt so-so around noon and shortly after was good. Felt very good last night. If anything has mold it's our house.

I did feel a little runny nose coming on as I got closer to the office this morning. But it's all dry now. I'm ready for lunch though. The boss is coming in this morning so he may buy us lunch, which is a shame because that's like 3-4 hours away. NFW I make it.

.210 isn't that bad if you have 35 and 94. That's like the weather man only being right when he says its going to pour. I'll take it.

I've designated lunch at 11am around these parts. I can't wait much longer even if I eat breakfast. MORE FOOD!

Also keep in mind those were lower HR total years. Add 10-15 years and that looks like 47/110, which is definitely solid.

Rob Deer struck out a lot and really didn't hit nearly as many HRs as I thought.

Lunch is normally 11:00. Thinking 9:00 today. These early days mess me up on that front. But then that's why I eat 2 lunches.

Jeremy - you're driving Sunday.

Just a heads up my allergies were flaring bad on the ride into work this morning (Almost lunch time for you!). I would def keep popping the meth as they seem to be out of control still.

I haven't had anything that I would call allergies since elementary school, until this year. For the past 6 weeks I have been getting crushed with sinus headaches so bad I have to just lay in bed with the covers over my head all day. Some rides feel like I'm breathing through a straw with suppressed HR. Windy road rides seem like the easiest way to get flare ups, I'm guessing from all the flower crap floating around. When does this "allergy" season end? June?

I'm not quite at that point but the headaches do really suck some days. The pseudoephedrine has helped, but it has a sort of uncertain effect when taken with the standard amount of caffeine I drink every day. I'm also now at a week straight on Claritin (not D, I only take the meth on-demand) and that's how long the pharmacist said I should give it to really have much of an effect on things. Hopefully my electrons orbit at 1 valence closer to the nucleus now. I'm under no delusion that the Claritin will magically wipe it all away after 1 week. I wonder if anyone will really get that.

I think it starts to end beginning/mid May? I believe by June it should be wrapped up. But it must have started early this year. So hopefully that portends an early end to it. Who knows.

Anyway, Fred is complaining about the fact I went and did what I said I wasn't going to do and talked about the allergies again. I will say that I never fully appreciated what it's like for people who get them really bad. I don't think mine are particularly terrible. If I drank more often I'd just assume I was constantly hungover. But I feel for the people who have to deal with this crap every year, several seasons a year.

Ride bike later.

i used to think i would find a off the shelf med that worked every year. i would try 3 or 4 different sprays, pills, etc and would always find the one that worked. it would always be different.

then i realized my allergy season just ended at that point.

suck it up, buckle up and keep the meds close by. every day that goes by is another day closer to it being over.

Caffeine, alcohol and pseudo are known to cause migraines. I suggest you give up the first two while on pseudo even if using PRN.
