Smokey & the Bandit Extended Online Race

SST? or is it FTP builders???

16.7 mph avg. doesn't really tell how hard this stuff is. When us see those rectangular spikes u know u be workin hard.

There should be bonus points for making rectangles on rider profile.

FTP builders. came out a bit below FTP 🙂

I need to get some sort of motivation for saddle time.

In for commuter or sport. I'll decide after my ride today 🙂

U should have only done 3x10...looks like that 4th one killed u.
I did 3x10 yesterday and nailed it. I needed this, the VO2max I did earlier in the week was disappointing. Anything more then 3x5 has been spanking me...but I ain't giving up. I'm only 2wks in.

Its amazing how satisfying it is to hit your numbers when doing intervals. When you don't it feels like you flunked the power-exam.

Next year you'll really reap the benefit of training with power.

For instance, I compare directly to same day same workout, and I see I did better this year.

Yes, I did 4x10 because I felt like I had another in me after the 3rd one. The rule is if you completed one that is down 10% to previous interval, you should go home. all these were in range, even if slightly below FTP. But you can certainly do a 4th even if the plan called for 3x...

I also did 4 hours yesterday instead of 3 hrs. Basically I'm building more into each workout, as I"m going on a 2 on 1 off instead of 3 on 1 off due to schedule, travel, vaca, etc. Now if I can only lose that next 10 lbs...

Can I make a suggestion on the double days & the free double days? If you use a floating double day you have to give up 1 of the 5 that are there already. In other words, max of 5 double days. 7 seems too many for 1 month.

Just a thought.

I agree. Even once a week seems like a lot.

i made this change - so everyone just take a peek at the lead page - you'll need to swap out a double day for your movable day. hopefully that works for the month.

Here's another one - since this is a mtb board afterall, how about some bonus pts for breaking percentage of total miles on a mtb (say 75%)? Especially since the next month the trails are likely to be shit and most miles will be on the road. Similar bonus would apply to SS I'd think...

i will leave it as is for now, i'll run a thing in the background and see what would happen with scores purely to make it easier on me 😱

You have no idea how much this suggestion helps people with wacky work schedules. Boom!

Just for clarity - Do you have to declare the double day - ie today. I can either declare it, or waive it?

seems that scoring could get out of hand if i call today a double day, go out tomorrow, ride twice as much (twice 0?) and say i want to use the first??
or some other convoluted permutation....

or auto apply them in the end - oh, can i double a double day?

sorry - i know these rule discussions past 'it would be a good idea if..' really suck.

1. If you ride on a double day, it counts as a double day. You can't go back and lose it for another ride. So if you ride today, it's a double day.
2. You can only get a floating double day if you *miss* a double day. So if you make all 5, you can't declare 2 floating double days and lose 2 of the 5 you rode.

Not sure if AM beat me to it as she didn't say she actually rode, but first ride of this thread.

My ride started at 4:10am rode to work, sooo first ride of thread?
Then rode home. 1 hour on the road.

THEN The Hub and I met with Bill at Allaire. I rode MOST of tiger woods. Had to hop off to walk up a section I think 3 times (Bill counted). Which is WAY better than the last time I tried it. And one section I got about 10 feet further than the last time. The whole trail no longer looks undoable to me which is the best goal to reach. 2 hours allaire.

Total for day 3 hours. double day.

A shout to Mitch!!!! hey Mitch do you remember showing Barry and I one drop section and saying "they will never ride down this"??? Well Barry rode down it today and next time I head to Allaire I will bring my pretty bike and do it too. I didnt today as I had the GT and he is well...partially retired. Bill can vouch.

Huh- had read the optional floating bonus days differently.
In the spirit of beta-testing, a not-so-hypothetical:
I can only fit in a quick hour today.
But rather than do this and have to count it as a double-day, there's incentive to not ride today at all so that I can use a floating bonus another day.

Fidodie brings up good points- some of the mess could be addressed with having to declaring a ride bonus/non-bonus when submitted (no retroactive designating bonus).

why do we need bonus days in the first place?

makes it interesting - gives people a chance to catch up or build a lead.

that said - i think having to declare that you're using those floaters in your post makes sense. let's do it that way.

commuter, i rode today. It's always 1h here and 45min back. 30 miles roundtrip. And I probably will never plan to extend my commute lol

I didn't catch this yesterday and I don't have garmin today or computer. I only have this...
