Smokey & the Bandit Extended Online Race

Water was coming down from the sky. Very fine water. But it was coming down enough. I need every point I can get with these 5 hour guys. So I'm taking it. I'm sure Oleg & Pat will chime in with a 4 hour pre-dawn rain ride then Jim will post his usual Monday century and I'll only be 48 points behind.

Yeah, but you will have the 31 point bonus, didn't oleg miss out on the first day?

I am just trying to not come in last. In that case, I will take a point.

Heavy fog in the am, but not point deserving mist.

Yeah ... I was out this morning and it was straight up raining for a little bit, but certainly nothing I would say is worthy of recognition. In fact, it tok some of the fog away, which was like a bonus. I was riding in Wiss and when I first popped out at the meadow section above Twisty-Turny, I could barely see two feet in front of me with the fog. The second time I went up that way, it was lightly raining but clear visibility.

(I'll have to post my Garmin later -- haven't uploaded it yet. Think it was around two hours, but with the way my moving time has been screwing me, I'll wait until I see it to declare points. 🙄)

Oleg is going to beat me, no question.

You and I are in the same league right now. So you should take any bonus point I do if you think it was close enough. The top 3-4 are going to be impossible to catch. I'm not even sure if I ride 5 hours a day I can win this thing already.

I would like to swap today's double day with my ride on March 7... today is also day number 7 so I would like to claim my 10 bonus points... ?

10 pts are in there. i can't flip the days around. just don't ride on a double and then you can move it. at least that's where we landed for that for now.

46.1 miles/3:55 min = 6 x 2 = 12 pts plus hopefully a bonus for the gps art??

Nice job on the art! 😉

That's bonus material in my book 🙂

Gotta give props for that gps art. Worth bonus points to me.

done.

Bonus...One of Jeff's spots. This is like 10 minutes up the street from my crib. This is in Keepin' it Real, Here we go again, Transition. Probably a bunch of others?

-Jim.

i think i know that spot pretty well, well not well enough to do anything other than go down the stairs real fast haha!

I wasn't going to lose my third hour because of a Garmin problem!

nice effort - love it!

Saturday: D-to-the-ouble

Sunday: Feels good to open the legs up a bit.

Monday

Got the 7 day streak bonus. There is nothing between 7 and 31? but 5 and 7 are double the points?

don't ask me, i just make the game here... oh wait. yeah there's a bit of a point screw up in that dept.

updated lead page coming shortly.

Please move March 1 double day to March 7.

You have to declare the DD on the day you use it. You can't go back in time and change. We did talk about this earlier. We simply can't have everyone swapping their days at the end of the month because they get more points.

The point is to give people who have more difficult schedules the ability to move a day and get a bonus.

It won't matter for next winter. There's no way the wild card DDs make the competition next year. Dave has already expressed to me that it's a headache.

FTR mr. martz had not used that first DD that he missed.

but yeah these moving days suck balls. no way they are hitting it next year. tracking it over 2/3 months would be a PITA. and they have already caused too much teen angst.

I think I initiated the floating bonus pts day. Seeing what a pain in the ass it is to execute, I'd like to then lobby for a mix of weekend and workdays as the bonus days next year. I brought it up because almost all the feb bonus days were workdays.

I think it was my idea, at least independently. I did state that you had to declare it on the day you used it. Clark will better understand why on March 31st when everyone is trying to swap out days and take 0s to swap for other moving DDs.

the way i set up the double days is by a pattern on the calendar - that's all. so i start with the first day, then move on an angle across the calendar, usually every 8 days. honestly, i could play connect four with someone and use the game layout to pick the days. but i try to move it so it goes from every day of the week to a weekend.

Clark is smart abou tthe DD's and rotates then throughout the week and each week they moved up one day, hence why February had the weekdays. Some people don't ride as much on the weekend we so we need weekday ones too.

Miss judge the clock and had to be at the dentist by 10. What does this mean I had to all out sprint to be there on time. My legs hated me for this after yesterdays 86 mile ride. Then it was sweet Novocaine for the long way home.
I will take misty mountain hop point too, as it's still misting here in the hills 😉

Meh - at this point it doesn't matter because the DDs will be static in the competition next year.

But if I were scoring you'd be in pro. 😉

I want more points just because I don't have time to read the rules, and I'm not that good in math.

Local Loop consisting of Pavement, Dirt Road and Trail.

Mercer County trails are Very Good (85%) – Good (15%) shape. A couple of soft spots and really bad mud behind the Boat House (got off the bike and walked that spot).

Saw a couple of guys on Quads (I think they were County Employees) riding very fast without helmets. My Tax $ at work.😕

Garmin - Time 3:57, Moving Time 3:48
Bike Computer- Moving Time 3:58

I do not know what Matrix Garmin uses for their Moving Time, but it does a poor job in the woods. On other hand Garmin Time matches well to Computer Time, so let’s just use Garmin Time as the base for Moving Time.:hmmm:

Garmin GPS – Distance 37.53 miles, Avg. 9.5 MPH, Max 21.2 MPH
Bike Computer- Distance 40.36 miles, Avg. 10.1 MPH, Max 21.5 MPH

5:06/73.1 miles.

10 + 1 for wet, dripping wet, can't see through glasses type of wet. imho doing an hour+ before 9:30 gets wet points.

avoided pre-dawn to get the kid on the bus, but did get up to try and see the comet, which didn't work out so well.

rode with a newbie for a bit - told her to shift, amazingly the hills were now doable. great for her confidence - she'll be cranking out the dreahook segment in no time....

stopped in HG, where DG worked some more magic on the bike. really comfortable in aero bars now - going to move up in the swamp TT!

what really made me happy was no bike racks in the 6mr canal lot - pic on strava.
