Awesome. How far along are you or is it an oldie? Hope you are well on the mend. Im 17 weeks from surgery now and doing real well. up to 90% of my own body weight jogging now, cycling i can go as fast as my fitness will take me.

Do you have any pain under your knee? I dont at all but was told i would where they hammered the pin in and then put my knee cap back to cover it. I do have a massive amount of callus build up though where my break was in Tibia and Fibula so i do have a slight lump on my shin where it protrudes.

I used DVT compression socks, whole foot up to the knee. they helped massively and stop my leg from filling with fluid which mine still does now.

I did this in 2006, so its been a while. I did 12 weeks of PT and I remember getting back on my MX bike at week 13. Mine was a compound fracture, which can be worse, but it eliminated the issue of swelling, so I didnt have to deal with that too much. I will say that I had a full recovery minus a few lingering issues. I have the same issue with my knee cap. Patella femoral syndrome IIRC. My biggest issue is sitting with my knee bent for any extended period of time...I have to straighten it. Sometimes it gets irritated and causes me pain, usually racing cyclocross does this to me. The jumping off of the bike seems to gives me an issue every year, but I got a script for an anti inflammatory and it helps tremendously. I dont use it often, but once and a while i need it. For the most part, im back to normal. But its like any major break...you're fixed, but you are always slightly different.

They take your hardware out yet? They let me keep mine

Well glad you could get back to it.
Mine is a permanent fixture so whats in there will always be in there. Last docs appointment on March 4th and then that's it. 2 more weeks and i reckon ill be jogging on my own again.

I have a lot to look forward to. I signed up to the spartan race at citi field in April (first time) and i also got my cat 3 license to get into some racing. Knowing im doing both of these really gives me the extra push i need to train and get better. I plan on just looking back at it all as a hurdle not a hindrance so to speak.

Most of all I just cant wait to get on the trails again.

well in my case, the rod stays, but they just too the screws out.

Good luck getting back to jogging. I was never a runner anyway, but the running still bothers me a bit. But I have probably jogged a total of 15miles in my entire life 🙂

Brockwan,

You should check out Hartshorne in Highlands, NJ when there is too much snow anywhere else. I hit it for lunch yesterday and it was totally rideable. You can connect from there to Huber, which is flatter and half a mile away and Sandy Hook, over the bridge, if you want to ride the beach.

Nice whip, btw.

WARNING: Conditions may have deteriorated today...

Do you know what the conditions are like now or do you think they will be clear by the weekend with the warmer weather? I'm seriously in need of a ride this winter hibernation crap is driving me nuts!!!

Hartshorne

I post updates when I ride Hartshorne on that Park Conditions page.

It was quite good for me and two fatties on Wednesday.😀😀😀

Rode some heavily packed trails Friday in the woods at the Land of Make Believe on Friday and that was good too, but more challenging.

If I wasn't working all w33kend, I would check out Allaire, I spose.
