Transformers?
Avengers?
Aliens?

Chicken Little?
Close encounters of the third kind?
E.T.? You had to have seen this...

Close Encounters of the third kind. ofcourse. That's a classic.

I also read all of Whitely Strieber's books on the subject years ago. And I think he made a movie too. They were entertaining...

I wrote an album based on her story that became something completely different about aliens who want to just go surfing. I think that makes more sense. If anything is gonna come down here, it's gonna be to surf.

Where can I hear this album?

Dave I hope you wrote yours before 2007!

Why is it a foregone conclusion that every civilization wants to a) talk to anyone else and b) colonize anything? Maybe everyone else wants to just get stoned. And play ping pong.

it is natural that humans assume (fear) that if there are advanced civilizations out there that they would want to conquer us. after all, that is what humans have done throughout our history (and continue to do)

but in order for intelligent life to have evolved to the point where they could travel millions/ billions of light years to get to us, they would also likely have to have a fundamentally different mentality. i.e., one of peaceful coexistence.

IMHO humans will never get to that state of technological advancement because we will destroy ourselves/ each other waaaaay before then. unfortunately, in its in our DNA.

but maybe some other intelligent life form is capable of technological advancement that doesnt result in destruction. and they just look at us with curiosity - "look at these stupid little, dirty, violent creatures"

...while taking a drag from their big celestial bong

Please do. I'd really like to hear it.

well uploading music to the internets is a lot more of a pain in the ass than i thought. but i did it. i apologize in advance for anyone losing a full half hour of your life if you listen the whole way through. i put this together 7/25/04 through 8/2/04. i caught a flu while living with my parents so i locked myself in my room to avoid human contact and ended up walking out with this. i didn't allow myself more than 3 takes on anything - so if something i recorded didn't work it still stayed. there's also an annoying high pitch sound you may hear through out it. turns out when you record directly into your computer, you need to unplug your printer.

anyway, that's the story. a girl in high school told me she was abducted by aliens, so about a decade later after trying to make that story into something stupid, it morphed and morphed until i wrote a story about a few aliens who wanted to go surfing but ended up going to the midwest first by accident. they have their ship taken over by a rube, are captured, made to sit down on a horsehair couch (which i have experienced and is torture), and escape after being locked in a basement. they start walking west after and finally get to surf mavericks.

Nice job Dave!
First impression: I've listened to young bands/vocalists before and too often they sound like they are trying so hard, just putting too much energy into it which comes off sounding desperate. This is not the case with the Earth Show. I find this to be a satirical recording filled with campy riffs and bantering vocals, all of which come off as entertaining. Not album of the year material but fun to play while having a few beers with some friends.

seriously thanks. this is pretty much what i was going for even though this is the first time i really shared it with anyone. i think i passed out 3 CDs in total of this when i finished it since i did more to entertain myself than try to take over the musical world. its nerve wracking sharing crap even if its stuff that's over a decade old.

Sweet! Havent been on the forum all day. I'll give this a listen tonight!

I know they exist. I married an alien. Divorced her too. Aliens are mean, they suck the life and money out of you until you are a mere shell of what you used to be. I dislike aliens.

Dude, this couldn't be less of a surprise. I would be more surprised to take my next breath than I would that you wrote a story about this.
