45North Wolvhammer Winter Boots SPD info thread (moved)

They aren't easy to come by. I bought mine from Cycle Haven in Long Island. I originally bought a 42 because I'm a 9 normally. I bought a 43 afterwards because they fit better. Maybe go to a 44? You can try on my 43s if you want

I have the Lake MXZ303's and my toes have been cold lately. I am a 43 in those and ususally a size 9. I might be interested in the Wolvhammers.

Wow Jim, you were kidding. Been looking all morning, haven't found them yet, even in non-spd. I may take you up on the offer, but I have a feeling I will need the 44 as I have wide feet, then again, I can be wrong.

Did you try calling Derrick in Long Island? He's normally the guy to go to when everyone else is out.

PS-I tried to find a Studded D4 yesterday...They are GONE!!

I did not, do you have his info handy?

Sold out studs, that blows, if the coarse is what is was yesterday, they will be a solid leg up on the competition.

Utah, a size 44 for you up in Canada. Only size left...remember that this is in Canadian dollars...in US dollars it would be $312...cheaper than in US.

If anyone else is looking for other sizes here's another place that seems to have some in stock (in addition to fatbikes.com)

I'm in the same boat as Jim in terms of fit. The 47's I have now fit me a tad tight. If anyone is interested in a used pair (little use) I might try to find a pair of 48's for me.

Sweet, I am going to see what develops with the thread for the next 24hrs, if nothing, I hope they get here (through customs) before Marty's Race!

Thanks for the look out, I owe you a cold one.

Try Cycle Craft in Parsippany

Bought mine there during the week and tried three different sizes before settling on the ones that fit. I got the impression they had plenty.
BTW like everyone said, they seem run small for there respective size, are toasty warm, and bulk and weight were not an issue.

I totally lucked out. Put a wanted post on Fat Bike Trader and someone actually replied!! I have a Studded D4 coming :getsome:

I did part of the course today on Bud & Lou w/ some studs. It was rideable but it was still nasty! Several parts of the single track were covered by a thin layer of ice that made roots and rocks tricky to negotiate. Black ice everywhere, especially in the Randolph trails. I fell twice, going slow in the pavement in Schooly's Mtn Park and entrance of Palmer Park, but those were stupid falls. The long stretch of flat trail between the big steep hill and the hill to Bill's had 2+ inches of standing water (on top of ice) the hole length.

As much as I like challenging conditions for a race (it levels down the playing field 😀), racing on this conditions would be tricky, and crazy without studs.

If anyone's looking for studded Dillinger 4's, as of this past December I think bladimir has a set he wants to sell.

It's going to be on ebay sometime this week so let me know if anybody here wants it. I used it for a couple of rides. A few studs missing.

Thanks! I spoke with Kevin this AM who informed me they had a set off 44's. After a quick drive and fitting I walked out with them (Kevin was nice enough to install a set of cleats on as well!).

Without question, not what I was expecting. These boots are light, malleable, and toasty, real toasty! I am very happy about the purchase and feel I will get many winters out of them. After thinking I had frost bite this past weekend, the price tag was easy to swallow (kind of).

Also should mention, they had several other sizes as well as studded Dillinger Four's. Give them a call if you are looking for some of the harder to find items (very impressive selection).

On a side note, they also had a 17" Beargrease......which I took a spin on. Campared to my Moonie, it felt like a stick! So light and agile.

Forget about the DH bike, just go!!

(and have them install a studded D4 on it so you don't die in a couple weeks)

😀

I am close, posted the DH bike tonight on pinkbike and ebay.

I guess this is getting serious.
this is sad, you will be sorry when it's gone. You let winter and Vreeland sucker you into this. New season is just around the corner and any day on the mountain beats all other cycling disciplines hands down. You already know this!
