man I was hurtin at chimney rock last night. I just could NOT get the blood flowing. I think I rely entirely on getting pumped up from going fast. And it rained as I pulled up, it was slick as hell and I suck in the wet. Being a fair-weather rider I have basically zero experience in the wet. Plus I start to tense up, my back starts to hurt, and I don't stop whining for hours.
towards the end of the ride I had one of those purple hands from the Legend of Zelda came out and grabbed my back wheel or pedal or something from the tall grass. I hit the ground before I knew what happened. Good times cause I was with friends but man was I a lump of turd last night. @woody fed me chips and avacado verde and cookies, so totally worth the ride down there.

That's how I learned to ride wet rocks. CR in the slime is definitely tricky. There's a fair amount of wet roots too.
The OG 29-3s with 13 psi were the tires to have in those conditions

Hey Luke, how about a Jamis Dragon Reynolds steel 29er ?

Looking for something with slammed chain stays but not a crazy high bottom bracket.

Really it's only the nimble nine, the kona honzo which is almost identical, or the transition trans am.
All 3 are a pound and half heavier than that first gen nimble nine. Which is a bummer. I'd love something with a 27.2 seat tube and 135mm compatible dropouts too. I'm actually looking for the bike to be very flexible and bendy. And the 135 so I can keep my ENO hub and trials free wheel.

though I missed my teamies, and was actually in the mood to ride with people, everyone had lame excuses like being in ohio.
Utah actually offered up a ride, but at an unfamiliar place. With how utterly pitiful I was yesterday I was super hesitant to get on a ride I couldn't easily bail out of.
I couldn't decide where to go so I ended up at Ringwood. Ran into @gingertooth in the parking lot, followed him for 10 minutes. Super smooth.
Then I crossed back and forth until I traversed pierson's ridge road and decided to throw my hat over the fence. Took the blue/white/yellow trail out. Cleaned the entire thing. It's god damn hard back there. Got out near the TOS area and was contemplating heading down to the castle. Decided not to, that if I had more gas in the tank I'd do more of skylands closer to the car. Good call, within 10 minutes I had a flat, out of sealant in my tires. Thought I put some in recently but I guess not, it was dry in there. Ooops. Put a tube in it, 26" tubes fit like totally normal in a 27.5 FYI
Went down the red trail, up to the top of the new white and down that, then down warm puppy. That was enough. Having a tube in the tire really takes the fun out of ringwood. How did you old farts even bother riding bikes with tubes and crap suspension?
