Lindsey Vonn plus several figure skaters fell. Tho watching figure skating is like watching NASCAR, mostly to see the crashes

Well the #1 girl in the world won, so...despite the media blitz, that was supposed to happen. Ok so she came in 3rd and not 2nd. I don't think that can be considered choking.

Falling in figure skating - I'll grant you that's a bit of a choke.

One of the events she was 0.027 off 1st and came in 6th. Disappointing yes, choking, no.

That women's relay xc ski win was awesome. Skiing up those hills then descending and hammering the flats is incredibly exhausting. Form, fitness and desire to win are really tested.

So happy the women's team where able to make history with the 1st gold in xc skiing.

The lack of attention to ski position for freestyle skiing drives my OCD nuts. In airs, halfpipe, if your not doing the "X" (for X-treme-YEAH), the skis should be parrallel to each other. I just looks sloppy and reminds me of rollerblades.

I watched last night... But seems to me most of the tricks (double flair excluded) incorporate some sort of grab, etc... Something that would require cross your skis. Other than approaching and riding up the wall on an angle .... In which you wouldn't want your skis right together.. You would drive with your downhill skis to accelerate

Much better night for good ol USA last night (except for Vonn blowing it again). Americans almost got 1,2,3 on that event. As a (virtually) non-skier, I was curious, why don't the snowboard guys doing the halfpipe also do this event? Seems pretty much the same except for what's on your feet.

while the spins are the same and maybe the basic mechanics, snowboard and ski are totally different with holding and edge, the grabs, the regular/switch aspect.

Half pipe on skis isn't even interesting to me. Is there even a snowboard DH or slalom? Skis do ski things, snowboards to snowboard things.

Same terrain (half pipe) totally different skills especially when you are talking about competing at the highest level.

Lindsay is a great example...Her specialty is downhill...high speed, 150' jumps, being in a tuck most of the way, huge sweeping turn with massive skis. She won that part of the combined, she missed a gate in the slalom portion which is the complete opposite...very close gates, super quick turns...its not something she trains for often im sure. Blowing is a stretch as I dont think she had any hopes of winning it. And she got bronze in the DH, I believe she is the oldest women to ever medal in skiing...I cant see how that was choking or blowing it.
