How does one join mtbnj race team?
Rule number #2

Forgive my bounds overstepping @Norm but I believe it’s already been answered........ but to remove some of the ambiguity.... you might want to start with some unprompted MTBNJ/JORBA/NICA/TM volunteerism. You know, demonstrating commitment while letting people see who you are and that you have something to offer the team.

Saturday was a good start BTW, but volunteering at the MTBNJ races this spring would have been even better.....me thinks. 😉

It’s a team after all so chemistry is kinda important.

You might want to consider dialing back the tone on some of your responses too. We know you’re a good guy and know what you really mean but to an outsider, they might get the wrong idea.

After that, I assume you’ll need a sponsor. Someone from the team to nominate you for consideration.... but it’s just a guess.

The team (and by extension, the board) needs to present a positive inclusive online message in order to grow the community. It’s really that simple. 🙂
What Dan said and ride, ride, ride... Also race, race, race... A good example of OOS that volunteers and races is @Mtbdog and @Mathers. I’ve never the question asked in the 6 years I’ve been in the website, so it’s an excellent question. For what it’s worth, you do a great job of promoting OOS and keep it entertaining for the masses.

Dan, to this specific point, I don't recall any request to help with regards to the MTBNJ.COM races this spring. I may be wrong though. Personally, if I am asked and I am in a position to help I try to help, so it seems to be the case for the OOS crew. @Norm asked for OOS volunteers and a bunch of OOSes showed up. Looking forward to any future occasion to help, (maybe closer to home, i.e. some TM).

From what I've seen so far Max is always the first to offer a helping hand whenever somebody is in 'need' (and I have a crappy free seat post taking space in my garage to prove it). Just make sure a fire extinguisher is within reach and you'll be fine.

That said... @Norm , what would you see the MTBNJ.COM (not the team) members do to help the sport, the movement, the website etc. get better ? I mean the average to sloppy member (such as myself), I'm sure there's plenty of gals and guys giving already their 1000%.

Read this in an Australian accent, it's already Tuesday in Camberra....

It was not overt, but it was definitely there the first time he asked. It’s also not a recipe or an “if then” statement. It’s not guaranteed IMO. It’s one possible avenue. I do suggest that he take it offline with Norm if he is in fact serious.

this is a good question -
if the website is more than the team, then perhaps it needs a steering committee of diverse members that meet for coffee once per month at some non-sponsor location?
my limited inside knowledge thinks things are starting to heat-up on your 'get better' question.
