other than contempt - none of this is bad. We can "pause" to save as many as we can.
my prediction is that we are all going to know someone who died from this. I hope i'm wrong.

Man, I hope your wrong also. Maybe, all the people saying the scary scientific facts have made us all understand to reduce exposure-non essential travel, all that stuff, will make you wrong. Let‘s hope it the most wrong you have ever been, and the happiest you’ve been for being wrong.

You are a numbers guy and the current mortality simply doesn’t support that prediction unless you are including multiple times removed

i'll never exclude the best outcome.
The is not meant to scare anyone, just to educate on the possible outcomes as we take action.

it is going to be hard for the many who don't trust the government to actually trust the scientists.

Totally agree with this. Been in city all week (in the major hospital systems) and its crazy...but on a positive note I saw Katie Couric sitting a table over from me at a diner on UES this morning and she looked completely healthy.
 
Shoprite checkout line was almost a full circle around the store. Pretty freaky, felt like a riot was about to break out at any moment. You could feel the anxiety. No meat, fruit, or vegetables left.

Wife reported lines were crazy yesterday too but she was able to bring home milk and bread (in case it snows) and extra TP so I’m pretty sure we are safe from the virus now. Whew.

I think everyone needs to get a grip. I’ve been studying the science and immunology behind this and it’s not going to be the Spanish Flu, and the mortality ain’t going to be SARS or MERS level. Don’t kill each other over TP or hand sanitizer. Exercise common sense and hygiene, but don’t let the hype machine make you into a basket cases.

I’m also pissed that spring track will probably be canceled, because my kids are so on fire, in shape, and itching to race.

I was working up by the finger lakes this week and even up there TP is sold out. I mean a Walmart mega aisle was empty.
 
Just out of curiosity I did a search on Corona on CL and not surprisingly this came
Up as the first 3 items. Made me mad.

Then I saw this and thought “would drive” and it’s not a misspelling there was a car called Corona vs the one we are more familiar with called the Corolla
