2022 31/31 Ride daily for bragging rights and a reward. TM / Jorba / MtbNJ /

I've never ridden at Allaire either, but my impression is that you bike that has the widest tires may be preferred due to a lot of soft sand (in warmer weather). This might be a factor to consider in addition to any gnar that may be present.
Allaire is similar to Wharton only a few more punchy climbs. Contrary to popular believe, and many “experts” on this forum, Allaire does not suck as it has a lot to offer and is constantly crowded. For this particular ride I would go with the 130/120 bike as it’s geared and you won’t kill your knees going slow behind my butt. Hope to see everyone on Sunday!

Beautiful weather, ride seemed smooth as a dolphin; then suddenly, not so much.
20 minutes in, my handlebars hooked a coil of wire hanging from a telephone pole. I tried to brake and sweep the wire off just as it went taught and snapped my bars to the right.
I hit the pavement and flopped like one of those sticky squids you throw onto a pane of glass.

Just one minor raspberry on my knee and some road rash on my hip and ass (subscribe to my only fans page to see 🔥hot🔥 pics!). My hip and coccyx are killing me, though.
My bike is a little banged up and I need a new helmet, but overall, I was pretty lucky.

I suspect this ends my quest for 31 in a row; even if I can throw my leg over a saddle to finish the ride, I ended up getting to work so late that I can't possibly make it home before midnight. It was fun (mostly).

Good luck and congrats to all who achieved their goals!

TLDR: I crashed, I suck, I quit.

So sorry to hear, heal fast bro.

I’m not a fan of lawsuits as I feel they are abused, but that looks like a prime case of neglect and could have been much worse if you were hit by a car.

Thank you so much.

Frank, you telling me to heal fast strikes me like Patton slapping a crying soldier. I brought my father-in-law to his chemo treatments, and then 3 years later went through the same with my mother; I know how much of a toll that can take. Seeing you ride and post through your fight is genuinely inspiring. You are a living monument to perseverance, my prayers and best wishes to you.

I'm going to stop my crying and will finish my ride after work tonight whether it counts or not.

Your courage and strength have impacted me as a cyclist, just as your kindness and mentoring impacted me on beginner rides at Allaire ~10 years ago. Keep on trucking brother, and thank you, you've touched me and no doubt many others, without even knowing it.

God bless.

Dude if you pop on a bike before the sunrises hell yeah it’ll count. Road crashes suck. You’re almost there.

That literally brought me to tears. There are so many good people in this world, and I think they all ride bikes. Everyone’s kindness has given me the strength and will to keep fighting and to be honest, my push for a group ride was a mere ploy to get to meet as many of you as possible. I hope you get back on a bike and push through and finish. I for one, would be thrilled.

7/23 Took a few days off to rest my legs prior to wilderness 101. Really glad that I did because the 101 conditions were absolutely brutal! I felt great until right before aid 4. Between aid 3 and 4 are some epic single track sections but they take a lot out of you. This is when things started to get scorching hot and a few of the single track sections are up on the ridge or between the valleys and are fairly exposed. The caked on salt on my jersey made it possible to nearly have it stand on its own after I took it off. It was nice to see a lot of familiar faces that I haven't seen in a while. I am hopeful that my upward trend in fitness continues and that next year I will be stronger. I wanted to beat 10 hours... but I had pretty severe heat exhaustion after climbing Stillhouse and I really limped to the finish for the last 25 miles or so. I ended up finishing in 11 hours and 20 or so minutes which is well off pace, but I was just happy to survive to the finish and not DNF.

7/25 did a recovery spin. First ride since the 101. The legs felt completely fine riding, but walking I still have soreness, so I was surprised. I had to TT to rush home to beat what looked to be a nasty storm forming... then it rained for maybe 10 seconds...
