2023 garden thread

4 deer sleeping in my fenced garden today.
looks like one tried to jump over, didn't make it, tore out the mesh, and the others walked right in.....
the didn't really eat anything - although one of the fawns got spooked, and ran into the mesh, cartoon rebound.
Had a tiny fawn squeeze under my perimeter deer fence a few years back and when I approached it ran repeatedly into the fence not knowing how to get out. They're not the gifted the brains of the forest.

don't get me started on deer damage

looking into additional fencing and other deterrents.

Maybe a week left to the season. I really let it go the past few weeks and will clean up in November when they die back.

Late crop of edible luffa, eat them young. They're sorta phallic before flowering...

Cleaned the beds at the beach house. Told the renters to harvest what they wanted, which they didn't. Lots of wasted, time to make green tomato sauce with roasted peppersPXL_20231013_191104277.jpgPXL_20231013_201147319.jpg...

Looks like it's gonna get down to as low as 28º F for a couple hours the next few nights, so I finally went out and collected the butternut squash. Also had some Anaheim peppers and even a couple of cherrymatoes. Season done. Still need to clean up the mess.
