2023 Racing Calendar

Some of the guys are more outgoing than others. I've talked to Luca a couple of times and he's been friendly, but you can tell he's normally fairly shy. Sometimes I wonder if that's why he left the Syndicate - it seems their riders are expected to be on the outgoing side. Jackson and Laurie definitely fit that mold well, whereas it always seemed like Luca did what he needed to do, but all of the video stuff wasn't something he enjoyed and with Canyon he can let Troy take the brunt of that load as it seems he doesn't mind it. Even someone like Gwin - while he does a good job with fan interactions, it doesn't seem like it comes naturally to him. More like a practiced skill. Honestly, he seemed really loose at Snowshoe when he, I and another guy were B.S.ing about guitars and not bikes or racing.
 
Yeah I think it's hard to judge someone by how they react to fan engagement while under the pressure of a World Cup (or other high profile event) race weekend. Granted, that's also a part of the job, but your career is also made or broken by a handful of races a year so I think it's to be expected that some are more outgoing than others.

I'd normally agree with this but literally he was standing there in the tent and I'm waving at him with my young son with me and he's just ignoring us. And then it happened a second time. I really don't care all that much but it's enough that I don't really root for him now. It was probably made worse by the fact that dakatoh would chat for as long as we liked. Super cool dude.

Works for me. BTW, I believe they screwed up the Elite semi-finals and finals links on the GCN+ races menu. there are 4 links to Elite Finals Women's/Men's and no Semi...great service indeed...oh, and I think Gracia is back...🙄

I was actually expecting him to be back though I had a little hope. Just promote Reese Wilson to the big show since he's the closest thing we have now to Eliot. Or Jesus even bring back Claudio.

I got my GCN synced again. It logs me out every time with my Samsung TV. My account login uses a Gmail email address and so it forces me to sign in with Google which isn't even how I signed up. Not sure what tech some of these apps lack the big dogs have to just keep you logged in.
 
So, if I understand correctly no semifinals today? I wonder how many riders got screwed over their tactic of not pushing 100% during the semis…
 
No semis it looks like. Practice earlier and the women's final just started at 845am. Men at 10ambi guess.

Gwin needs to step the energy up a little bit.

Giant has a signed both rob warner and CG. Um is it me or are they finally putting it together?
 
Women's Andorra final. With Camille out and Rachel not riding it kinda felt like there were 2 elite riders.

Men starting now at 930. 61 riders and 5 American men in the mix.
 
Still got 4 more DH world cups this year including a new course in france next weekend, les gets which is a great course, snowshoe and MSA.
 
I’m ok with the result winner was overdue and 2nd…just felt right. I would have preferred the 2 top positions being swapped but it was like a split hair difference. In the books (if I’m allowed to use that expression).
 
Definitely an exciting race to watch. Weather affected, but if you look at the top 5 next year, you wouldn't know it.

They did harken back to Claudio with CG doing a course preview run. That said, Jackson's "official" GoPro preview was better, even if it was his second run down the course.

The WAS high energy Gwin. You can take the boy out of California, but he will always be extra-chill. 😎

Before and after. Him and pierron who was kinda useless, just promoting other French riders.

If gwin was more enthusiastic he'd be a natural broadcaster. Not sure he'd want that but I'd welcome him.

GC's trail preview was great.

Personally I’d rather listen to Gwin giving a competent, matter of fact commentary than listen to the same stale joke being repeated over and over (yes Cedric Garcia, I’m talking to you). I think I managed to tune the other guy out, I can’t remember a single thing he said. Now, Pierron was just incomprehensible, I hope the he can come back and race as soon as possible.
