2024 Garden Thread

Where's everyone getting plants, attempts to start indoors are again meh. Late this year and will likely get plants this week
I start most stuff inside. Works well, except when it doesn't. Plants were a little wonky this year, but are doing well in the garden.

Stuff I don't start inside I usually get at Lowes or Home Depot. They do fine. Also, I've gotten plants at local nursery (Sweet Valley Farms on RT202 in Ringoes).

I finally got remaining plants started indoors (peppers, eggplant, squash, melon) in the garden this week. Full kitchen remodel and new floors throughout going on for the last two weeks has put me behind this year.

I had a local lady selling some on the road side. Gasko's for the others, but bought he bigger single pots instead of the 4 pack starters.

Home Depot and Tractor Supply for a few.

How's Gaskos, I hear it's pretty expansive

Finished up a clearing out/transplant/regrade/sod job last week that I started last November.

Rented a walker track machine to transplant 3 decent sized hollys from behind my garage to a side in the front yard. For as small as these are they are capable and very maneuverable.

Earlier in the fall of 2023 I had taken down a coupe of trees that were grown in and throwing off the grade. I tried eating away at the stump and got pretty far but it was not enough machine.

A couple weeks later I got a bigger machine 😀

Which got the job done but the stump put up a good fight - between the 2 trees - the roots were all over the place.

Graded and left for the winter

A couple weeks ago I rented a rear tine tiller and mixed up a few yards of topsoil. I then got a gate and drove that with weight on it to pack and shape the area.

picked those summer squash and one zuch. Heat wave didn't slow down the snap peas like I thought it would. Vines are starting to yellow at the bottom but are still producing. Also, a photo of the Red Zeppelin onions doing well.
