2025 NFL Discussion Thread

Is it the same idea as DJ, just give any QB an extra second in the pocket and they do 100% better?
well Darnolds last two games of 2024 were like UNWATCHABLE bad....They just dont have it....yesterday...bills are on their own ~10yard line...need to convert a 3rd and 15 to ice the game....Allen gets it. DJ could play the game until 2076 and he would never convert that first down. DJ and Darnold are front runners....They want to get a lead early, run the ball as much as possible...have the opposing defense always being prepared for the run....which makes passing easier. When they get behind and then have to deal with a pass rush...rarely ever works out. Lot of QBs are like this...actually I would say only a very select few aren't

Went to bed before the Eagles game was over. They look like there in a free fall right now. Hurts had so many turnovers.
Probably one and done in the playoffs.
you hate to see it 🙂

This is where I miss Rick....I like the other eagles fans around here too much to rub it in lol.

Hurts has looked terrible lately, outside of one run he broke for 50 yards, so has barkely...Christ barkely is the highest paid RB in football and hes barely in the top 20 in yards.

But their defense is really really good, so that alone should be enough to win them the division.

This is the 6 OC Hurts has had since he has been with the Eagles. Not saying that it had anything to do with his play the last few games. It seems like the OL can't block to open a hole for Barkly. I really don't think Sirianni is a Offensive play caller and he lost the locker room.

I would agree with that. I saw one online analyst basically say the current Eagles OC is designing plays that aren't fooling the opposing defenses one bit and add that to a much weaker OL along with Hurts trying to force plays to work and you get what we've seen over the last month-plus. I would not be surprised if the Cowboys overtake them in the NFC East and they don't make the playoffs at all.

I was looking at the remainder of the cowboys schedule and found this amusing

Problem the cowboys have is that they are 6-6-1 and cannot get to 11 wins. The eagles only need to get to 3 more wins against the terrible commanders twice and the raiders, even if they lost the bills game, not a big deal. That would be 11 wins and the cowboys cant match that.

Currently the 3 NFC wildcard teams have 9 wins, 9 wins, and 10 wins....they will all most likely get to 11, so that means the cowboys only real chance is for the eagles to truly collapse and hand them the division...I dont see it.

Yeah... you're probably right... If the Eagles win on Sunday against the Raiders (which they should) and the Cowboys lose to the Vikings (possible) then I think that would basically cinch the division. But otherwise I agree with the prediction they won't go too deep into the playoffs as the Wildcard teams will all likely have better records. Especially since playing at home doesn't seem to give the Eagles much of an advantage, if any at all.

my favorite is watching teams i like (or pay attention to) drop QBs that they signed and see them flourish elsewhere

like maybe bryce is as good as these guys but still, makes me realize coaching/scheme matters just as much as how good someone can throw the ball

god he is so all over the map....go try and figure these guys out. Hurts would have been superbowl MVP in the one they lost to KC, and he was rightfully SB mvp last year....Yet at times he looks totally lost out there.
Two in one play. Gotta hand it to him for that one.
ya that was impressive

some QBs just take 5-7 years to actually learn how to be a QB in the NFL. And it's rare for a team to have that much patience so they get shipped out.

So, since most of here are well, well beyond the age range of an NFL player, let me ask you this. Is it not absolutely crazy to expect these guys to be grown-up/mature between the ages of 22-32? And I use 32 very liberally as that age is really over the hill in the NFL.

Every single person I know under the age of 26 is still on their parents insurance right now. We expect these guys at age 25 to act like they're 50 years old in maturity and growth. As I am now much older, I find the concept entirely ridiculous.

The vast majority of NFL players are still big kids. Of course most of them can't handle the pressure of Kansas City, let along a big market.

Yeah, this basically every pro sport, part of what separates the greats from the goods, being able to handle all of it

I was listening to Brady one day and he lost his OC. Belichick took over an explained defense to him cover 1,2 etc. he said, it made him better.
Tom was a great study, now when he played, I wasn't a fan bc he really wasn't that exciting to watch but he knew how to WIN.

He also didn't care about personal stats other than WIN. He'd throw the ball into the ground immediately if a play was busted.
No INT, no Fumble, no biggie. Think about the O line not having to run around, not ending up illegally down field, not holding to save the QB.

Seems they do look pretty deep into character. Manziel was supposed to go high, then mid first round the rumors (er truths)
Someone (CLE) took a chance at 22, wasn't worth it...we know now.
There are others with the same story - yet they are just so gifted athletically.
