25-26 Ski and Snowboard Thread

So the Mrs and I are all booked for St Moritz and Zermatt in late Feb early March. 👍⛷️🏂I’d like to plan the guys trip as well, perhaps out in Tahoe. Ikon mountains there are Palisades and Sierra. Any intel from those that have been there? There doesn’t appear to be much of a town at either, and we’d like some good dining options. They also are quite a ways from the nearest major airport (Reno) that would have direct flights from EWR. Any input appreciated. I’ve done Homewood and Kirkwood years ago but we drove from Sacramento, perhaps Sac’s a better option?

Great food, I've been going there for decades. Everything is excellent!

Palisades is amazing (if there is snow. just like anywhere else). The skiing and the views are as good as anywhere. You can do a non-stop with JetBlue to Reno, out of JFK. Not ideal, but, it's a 6pm or 7pm flight out, so its not terrible. its also a redeye home, so you could go to a show in Reno and then fly home.

River Ranch Lodge was really good last time I was there, but it was a few years ago.

As you get closer, let me know. I know a few people out in Squaw who would be happy to show a few NJ people around. I have a few high school friends who moved out there right after college in the early 90's.

I just got my Ikon as well, can't wait.

There is also great food in Truckee.

If anyone is interested in touring this winter hit me up. Last year I did limited touring at the mountain after my family was done skiing lifts , but it was fun nonetheless.

My wife and I dabble. We normally tour north creek ski bowl or prospect mountain in VT. Looking to try Brandon’s gap park this year.

They’re reopening Dutch hill ski hill this winter after they closed it a couple of years ago. I’ve done Greylock a few times with friends… good place in decent snow.

I do not know either of those hills so I’ll look them up. We are excited to explore hickory this year too.

So instead of Tahoe, a friend of mine and I just booked Big Sky Feb 9-13. non stop flight from EWR. Haven’t been there in 10 years but remember it well. Massive terrain.
Awesome....we LOVED big sky last year. I dont care how much that tram ride up lone peak costs, it was worth it.

Yeah I’ve been meaning to get there again for a while. Such incredible terrain and a fair amount of wide blues for carving and tree runs for fun. Maybe you’ll go back this season? Last time we had three pow days and 3 bluebird. One pow day it was over my boot cuffs🏂

These years its looking like colorado, then utah.....

But I have a good friend who lives there who is a ski patroler...had a great time hanging with her last year....100% plan on getting back there again. My only issue with big sky is that its very small and finding places to stay near the mountain is expensive...so kind of need a group to go unless I want to stay in bozeman. That aside, it was awesome.
