6 Mile Run Conditions

I'm at the concrete bridge right now. Came from 27 via orange. Way too muddy in too many areas. Orange is ok but others are pudding. Go elsewhere IMO. Everyone I pass has mud everywhere. Sorry I came out.

Freeze-thaw in full effect today. Not really going to get below freezing tonight, so if it's dry (which it's not really today) maaaaaayyybe it'll be ok in the afternoon tomorrow.

I wouldn't count on it.

To top it off, a family of four with a maybe 12 and 16 year old heads out from the 27 lot. Only the mom has a helmet. They have Walmart recreational bikes except for the Dad. I tell them it's muddy generally unpleasant ......and they should have helmets. I go roundly ignored.

Thanks for posting! I was going to head to 6MR tomorrow but I'll save the trip. I did Hartshorne yesterday and Lewis Morris today and both are great.

That's depressing. Friday my bike was barely even dirty after 20 miles riding around. I guess the good freeze Friday night really messed things up.

I couldn't believe how many people I saw at Lewis Morris today without helmets. Most were obvious beginners and they were all trying to keep up with more experienced riders. Doesn't seem too smart....

How's this place looking? I'm thinking of heading over tomorrow afternoon, but will just hit the "ashes formerly known as Chimney Rock" if it's less than 90%

We rode at 9 am this morning on blue and white and some area (exposed/Meadows) were greasy but areas protected in trees were fine. I guess it depends on how much freeze happens tonight.

Yesterday 27 to red via orange was "ok" with mud in spots but red to concrete was muddy. Didn't go past that. Turned around as it wasn't much fun. I can't imagine it being much if any better tomorrow IMO.

Anybody have an update or guesstimate of what six mile might be like? I was planning on riding after work tomorrow being that I haven't been there since October.

Was out trimming the Red trail from Middlebush past the concrete bridge this morning. Shady spots are slick like peanut butter with plenty of standing puddles, freeze thaw will be holding the moisture and releasing it as it gets warm. Two riders passed me and I could follow their tracks. 6 Mile Run still needs a few days to dry out.
