6 Mile Run Conditions

Tossing out another option I've used to clear some rather large trees on our local trails. 20-volt Black & Decker chainsaw. I have a few batteries and get a decent amount of cutting time. weighs about 7 lbs. and with the bar removed fits in a backpack for easy transport. It's not going to win any cutting races against a gas saw, but if the chain is sharp it def. beats hand sawing through a lot of smaller stuff. Low chain speed so there's really no debris flying and about zero chance of kickback.

This tree is a bit beyond what it's really designed for, but it did make both of those cuts pretty quickly.

I have a 60v greenworks- I like the electrics. I think for most homeowners it’s the way to go. The 60v has plenty of juice for a ton of cuts. Thankfully the handsaw was all I needed for the stuff on the canal side. The largest tree I had to go through was probably about 10”.

Nice! I was thinking about the B&D 40-volt as well as that 60-volt you have. At the time I only needed it for taking out one tree at home and some smaller branches. Didn't really think about trail use. And you're right, most people would be totally fine with something like this for home use. Way less maintenance and a lot less chance for injury.

I have the Greenworks 40v chainsaw 16" bar and it's great. Have xtra battery too

won't tell you not to use your battery powered cutting tools.
But I can't claim it is ok, and definitely not endorsed or authorized.

take all precautions, as they may be less dangerous, but there is always risk. esp with bent or blown-over trunks.

You ain't kidding! I've been using a chainsaw for 50 years and they ain't toys. Ya gotta have respect for them and go very easy.

Basically every tool they sell at HD is the absolutely cheapest version of that kind of tool going. Many brands even make lower quality good with the same brand name just for the HD. A rule of thumb is that if you need to have an Item last longer than one year, DO NOT buy it at the HD.

Look here to see what the pros use. They won't put up with crappy saws.

thanks, picked up two with the 15% off and free ship

Someone got out there (I’m sure we all know who - not me) and cleared the mess at the Blackwell bridge. I did some more clean up this morning.

Aside from a couple spots between the Blackwell bridge and the steel bridge on blue that need some attention, it’s totally ready. You can ride without a dismount through the entire canal side.

Conditions are actually pretty good overall. Just a handful of puddles. Totally rideable.

Thanks and wow, that magic wind was good for something!

It's clear now from Blackwells bridge to the steel bridge. There's an area on 27 side about a mile in from S Middlebush that needs some work, it was beyond my abilities 🙂.
The dirt is good, surprised not many people out this afternoon.

It’s super good actually. Rutted to shit in places but hardly surprising.

I’ve got one or two more days running the saw and things should be golden.

Huge day for my family as my 5 year old got out on the geared bike. Definitely a day I will never forget.

My wife tried one of our demos too. She fell in love with the plus wheels. Looks like another tallboy convert.

Sadly, there were very few other people out there enjoying the conditions. I saw only two other riders between 1 and 2:30 ish.
