A Wookies return.....

RIP Frank, you will be missed.
My first in person interaction with Frank at the massive 6 mile TM sessions of yesteryear. When we cut 28 logs (some OG's might remember that name), which was the one longer woods section of blue that originally had 28 log overs. In any case, I was making a berm and it was well before berms were even remotely accepted by JORBA. After an initial "you can't do that" response from Frank, he reviewed the area and determined it was suitable for a berm, making it the first official JORBA approved berm. That berm is long gone, but Franks memory will never fade...

From a small 4 biker group ride at Stephens SP only a year ago...late May ‘24...unbelievable...he rode like a champ that day.
He will indeed be missed...

While not my first interaction with him one of my first memories of him was the second ever JORBAfest at the Waterloo fields… great day!

One of the events they had that day was adults riding toddler bikes around a circle… all I remember from it was Frank having the biggest smile! 😃

@Matt_ and I have told Frank how much of an influence he's had on the mtb community over the years. He really influenced Matt and I when it comes to getting things done on trails. Anyone can build trails, getting people to help you build trails is a special gift, Frank had that gift. From Frank I learned not only how to build but how to reach out and try to be a better person. I don't think anyone can match the Wookies likeability and his magnetic charm, he is the reason I came out to TM sessions.

I'm thankful that I found these pics, its from a TM session at Hartshorne. These pics are from 16hrs ago, Brian Snyder was the Hartshorne Rep at the time and Frank was there in all his glory. Even though this was from 2009, I remember it well, we repaired the trailhead to Rocky Point.

Start of the session, Brian looking on and the Wookie knee deep in it in the gray pants.

Me and @don being coached by Frank. Don had skills even back then, he's now the Hartshorne Jorba rep.

Even busting it out, Frank has a great smile. You made mtbing better and you were loved, rest in peace Frank.

Just a thought - Is there anyway to put a collection together for Frank's wife, or have her login here when the timing is right. I think whenever the timing is appropriate for that for those who are closest to him and know her well, she would really appreciate all this sentiment. I never met him but I feel sad about it from reading all your posts like I knew him all along.

There is a shared album getting created for this very reason for his wife.

Reminds me of the famous horse 🐎 berms

Found myself riding in an unfamiliar park in CT today for some much needed Dirt Therapy. At the highest point of the park (according to the trail name) I came across this fella just minding his own business; with a stoic expression, absolutely indifferent to me being there.

I had to take a moment to compose myself. You see, it was eerily similar to something I’ve seen before.

Till we meet again…

I’ve never been good at recording good times with pictures, probably because I like to think they’re seared in my brain…which brings me to the point of the happiest I’ve seen @Frank in the short time I’ve known him was when he was riding shotgun in @UtahJoe ’s mustang at Jorbafest back in 2022. I also remember as if it was yesterday the only TM session I did with him at Allaire as one of the most teachable moments as well as one of the funniest.
You are dearly missed big guy!

At a loss. I didn’t know him nearly as long as most of everyone here but we bonded very quickly and deeply about sitting in an infusion chair get our meds. It was all about flipping off what brought you there and sharing with someone that knows a little something about the situation. Frank always included me and took to my wife as well. I’m greatful for him being in my life as an integral part. 🖕🏻one more time for ya buddy.
