Am I wrong to be ignoring fatties?

Hand and coaster brakes baby!

Kranky's eh? I will take a look. I don't know where any shops are anymore. This is sad. Last bike came from Hays Bike Shop on 35 back in the 90s, if anyone remembers that place...

I was afraid to post the link for that reason. Likely removing to eliminate temptation...
I'd buy the CL, cause it's a steal
1) you'll make the wife happy
2) you could sell it for zero loss in a year
3) use extra cash to save for the next one, because your original price point would have been an entry bike anyway

Let me know if you don't grab, cause I might, just for the hoops

Going Sunday to look/ride/potentially bring home. If I don't, I will let you all know. If I do, I will let you all know.

Good luck Mr T, I own the MB Lurch and have ridden it almost exclusivly for the past year. I think it is a solid bike with a decent component set for the $. The things I feel are important are 5" tire ability(you can always use 4" for the summer on the same rims, I do not however). The weight of the steel frame doesn't seem too noticable except when there are long climbs involved. I don't blame the bike totally as I am a flat lander so most climbs are a grunt. We use the bike to explore areas where our regular mtb ( the tandem) won't go without a lot of hike a bike. Be aware the Weinmann rims on the 1st gen Lurch are not tubeless compatible. The Mulefuts are .
Would I sell the tandems and keep only the fatties? Probably not although it has been discussed. Whatever you decide, get back out there and ride the **** outta it!!!!

Try The Trek Store Middletown. Full range of Fatties at good price points. No suspension, Front Suspension, 26 x 4.70., 27.5 x 3.80.., 29 x 3+.., adjustable rear geometry.., single speed capable.., very easy tubeless conversion. Salsa and Surly too.

I just got back from Philly, and am now officially a fatty. Good thing I emailed before I posted the link, as apparently 5 other people tried to jump on it immediately after I did. Needless to say, it is now in my garage, and he actually lowered the price to 600 even. Has Kona handlebars, Surly front fork (from his Ice Cream Truck). Got the bike (which looks mint), the old tubes that were in it (as it is now tubeless), as well as the red wheel liner things in case I want to switch out the black ones. Thanks to all for the help/guidance. It was too good to pass up. Rides sweet. Pics will follow once the monsoon stops and I can get it out.

He also apparently did the 50 miler with some of you guys yesterday. If you met a guy named Tony on an Ice Cream Truck with a Bluto, he was the man.
