Ask an automobile mechanic.

You can pay a hundred bucks or so and buy the OBD 11 scanner to register the new battery. And then get the replacement battery from Costco for cheap. That’s what I do with my two VWs
Seems strange that none of the mechanics I asked could do it if it's such a cheap tool. I had searched online about it and no one mentioned getting that scanner.

I have OBD 11 and VCDS but my car doesn't have the battery monitoring stuff. Shockingly, it looks like I can get an OEM battery from the dealer for $110!

So growing up with my dad owning a gas station....we only used external plugs to fix holes in treads. I have personally used regular plugs...cheapest shit at autozone forever and I have yet to see one ever leak again. Have never seen one fall out, assuming it was installed correctly. I wouldnt think twice about it, my current car has a 2 year old plug in it.

For the record, the tire in question was fine for a long trip, then was plugged AGAIN due to a new screw appearing in it, then rotated and driven another 2K miles. That is all.

The passenger side vinyl bolster on my Mazda has developed a split after 2.5 years. This is a common issue according to multiple posts on the Mazda CX 50 forums. Some have had it covered under warranty, others have not had success getting their dealers to warranty it. I’m going to attempt a warranty claim but I’m not optimistic. If I end up having to do it myself, there are myriad products for vinyl repair. Have any of you had luck with a particular product/brand?

To stop derailing the tariff thread, BMW also wanted $1302 to replace a torn axle boot. Our go to guy says $507.

A work acquaintance has a 10 year old X5. 108K miles and clean and dealer maintained. Worth maybe 12 book but the dash leather is peeling. They offered 4 trade on a 95K new X7. And he also has a new 760L on order with them. I told him he's not sufficiently annoyed with them.

Since I've checked both Carvana and Carmax for value, they constantly email me the current values of my '17 Suburban and the '17 X3. I was honest and noted the 3 large dents that need body work on my truck and that the mileage is just shy of 150k vs. 50k on the X3 which is in like new condition. The Suburban is still supposedly worth thousands more than the X3. We paid the same amount for both of them. On a side note, the Suburban probably cost about $12-15k more in repairs.

Those full size SUVs are the new Wranglers for low depreciation. Everyone wants one and they are 80+ new. I guess that plus everyone leases X3/X5 so they're are tons of used examples.

But 7-8K hit for a peeling leather dash is criminal. Even if the windshield has to come out to repair it properly. And with 200K of purchases in the last 6 months.

I don’t know. Of all the new vehicles I see on my commute, it’s always the big-3 that have non-functional lighting.

Idk non functional lights are everywhere these days idk if that's a fair metric. I will say I notice more cars with fancy led lights being non functional. I assume that has to do with cost to repair
