Bands that should get more respect than they do.....

I was thinking of bands that some people might unfairly dismiss or not give enough credit.
For me its easy to dismiss bands that get a ton of radio air play. After you heard Goodbye Yellowbrick Road (Elton John), Dreams (Fleetwood Mac), Scenes From an Italian Restaurant (Billy Joel)...and songs like these 1 million times its easy to pass over them. The fact is these are great songs from great bands however after they are repeated too much they become like Rain Man's reciting Abbot and Costello's "Who's on First" routine. The subject matter is lost in routine and it becomes boring. I think Dark Side of the Moon is a great album but when a song from it comes on the radio I hit next. Can you people honestly listen to Ozzie's Iron Man again??? I give these bands credit but I don't like hearing them constantly on the radio.

and for the record Morrissey is a whiny little bitch who is over-rated.

As far as thrash metal my vote goes to Anthrax. They were always my favorite of the "big 4" bands and they don't get as much respect as the others imo.

Then there's Overkill, another one of the greatest metal bands that are still killing it after 35ish years. Their newest disc drops in February.

+1. I don't know how he got anointed the voice of NJ. He sounds like he's from Alabama and his songs are delivered with way too much drama.
I never cared for him until I saw him in Dec 8 1980 river tour. That was when he would do back flips off the amps and play for 6 hours straight through.

Here's trivia for you @pooriggy what does Dec 8 1980 have that is infinite in rock history. It's the reason I remember the date I saw Bruce.

So many good points here.

Agree many times people get sick of the very popular songs by great bands and then tune out to all of the other great (yet slightly less popular) songs.

And yes morrisey is a whiney pretentious bitch but bad mouth the smiths and/or johnny marr and I'm throwing off the gloves 😉

Animals as leaders. The best band ever that no one has heard of. The 3 dudes in that band are top shelf. Tosin Abasi's guitar playing covers every genre out, many times in a single song. I cried when the new album came out.

As a metalhead from favorite bands like Priest, Motorhead , Saxon, Riot and UFO, I believe Accept get way less than their share of credit. I would put them up against the overly -hyped Metalica any day of the week. The last 3 albums they've released are amazing with a new life from NJ based singer Marc formerly of TT Quick. Also was never an Anvil fan, but have been snatching up all their stuff and loving it. Also a band almost nobody knows about Orange Goblin is now a grown up metal act to be reckoned with after moving on from their gloom/stoner metal into a more aggressive style with "Back From The Abyss". Seriously , if you are in fact a metal head, check this release out and thank me later.
