Beer is Not Satisfying(sometimes)

As I get into better shape and put in some really good rides, where I go all out hard effort I find later that night beer does not do much for me. Not that it tastes funny but it just doesnt taste as good. Like I have one and have to force myself to have another. Normally when I am in beer drinking season I can drink 3 beers easy and have to put the brakes on.
Does any one else experience this? I guess its my bodies way of wanting to recover after hard rides and alcohol is just something the kidneys have to filter out of my blood.

Yes this is exactly how I react. Often times I find myself forcing a beer after a race but it really doesn't feel that good. So I drink on easier days or rest weeks 🙂

Beer is overated! 😀 Now ice cream thats a hole other subject...

Could be related to riding on the road (aka tarmac). Maybe move to France or start a "what's your favorite wine?" thread. Either way this is a serious problem and you should address it with a swiftness.

Maybe I'm a special case, but I can consume large quantities of beer regardless of time of day, physical activity, location, or appropriateness. The only thing that'll stop me is if it's a crappy beer and even that rule I break on occasion ;p

I see nothing wrong with any of this. There has been times when I have done super early morning rides at Allaire, then go to Kellys in Neptune for breakfast(literally) and a beer or two.

Chew gotta pound one before chew ride mang! Make sure you're not drinkin junk, that crap is for when you're havin more than thirteen beers.
If you're forcing yourself to drink, maybe you should lay off til you really feel like drinkin.
I've had similar "problems" and just switched over to vodka.... it's just to get a buzz though..... I don't like to fill up to get a buzz.
What ever works for you sir.
😀

Can't say I know the feeling. The harder I ride, the more beer I seem to crave.

I would have to ask though, what Beer are you drinking? I could see the body rejecting the Crappy BMC beers...the good stuff is another story.

I ride on the road WAY more than I would like to in most cases. Drinking beer has never been a problem.

This thread offends me. Please lock it mods.

Blow this thread to bits!!! Die!

This is not normal. You have a serious problem. Maybe you need help. They have Helplines and meetings for people like you.

I don't think we have enough information to help.... key factor is "what kind" of beer are you trying to put down?

I couldn't touch a yuengling or guiness after a long ride or say a full day of yard work... but throw a 6 pack of MGD my way and it'll be gone!

Now fast forward to a nice steak dinner.... don't you dare put an MGD in front of me, i want that yuengling (hmmm, maybe get some bass and make some black&tans.... SOB, writing this makes me want a beer, but im all out and its too late to pick some up 🙁)

This was the first year I set riding goals and have consistently tracked minors like time, miles, etc. etc.... This is also the first year since I was 20 that I actually didn't want to drink... If I drink it is only one beer and it's usually at family events... Even the post ride beer has become a little mundane
