Biggest loser

today: 181.2

that's down a bunch - cause:

1. I didn't drink any alc this week
2. exercised
3. yesterday I humped wood for my friend's tree service for 11 hours
4. put 90 minutes into 6mr this morning
5. under 1500 calories per day - 1 meal around 6pm, no snacking.

I will need two meals today, but i'll keep lunch light.
1500 calories seems too low...unless you were just sitting on the couch. but that's just my 2 pennies.

I agree. Feeling like I want to kick start the weight loss. If I'm going to start ramping up activity, will need more. When i did that cleanse thing at the beginning of this thread, it diminished appetite and sugar cravings.

This isn't a lifestyle that is sustainable.
Felt my best when having a light breakfast,
Not snacking unless coming off a workout. Then protein and lots of water. And a solid dinner.

I've been the opposite for some time. Brains are strange things.

Anyone else temporarily retain a bunch of water after a long-ish ride?

I commuted into work (30 miles) and did some hardish efforts on the way. The next day the scale seems wildly high (3-4 lbs higher than my weigh ins from last week). I certainly didn't eat 12k+ extra calories lol. Curious to weigh myself again Monday after 2 rest days.

im usually DEhydrated after a long or hard ride so the weight usually goes down(anyone who has had the misfortune of riding behind me can explain why), eating out (salty foods) typically will cause my weight to register higher.

I've observed this on days after say the W101, or TSE 5-day stage race or even a hard 4+hr Endurance race. I attribute it to inflammation, water retention and stuffing my face with recovery food. I'm sure you will see the number back down on Monday after recovery.

I have been focusing on fueling far better than I used to. For it being 95° on the way back I haven't been destroyed the rest of the day which is nice.

Taking in 40 oz of water and 300 calories/50g of carbs each way. Guess we'll find out in a day or two.

This is what I'm attributing it to as well.

YES!! This literally just happened to me! I was at Mountain Creek on Saturday and the following 2 days I was a swollen mess. Scale was abnormally up 3 at 214 lbs. I thought maybe it was lyme (still going to get checked) but now you have me curious.

I peed my brains out at work yesterday. This morning I was back to 211 lbs and not feeling swollen.

For me the drop is entirely water weight. It is physically impossible for me to drink enough water to replace what I'm loosing. It all comes back within a day off the bike so...... each person is different so it's hard to compare to someone else's results

Been a few weeks since I've checked in. Staying active, eating hasn't been great. Successfully completed another TSE, my 7th time participating. Placed higher this year, but total time was almost 1h45m slower, 146mi and 17,748ft. I'm a year older, carrying about 15lbs more than last year, and each stage had quite a bit more mud to deal with. Rode clean all week and didn't have any crashes until Stage 5. Slow speed stall and fell over before being able to unclip. Probably going back again in '25. It really is a cool vibe in camp and racing each day.

Raced at Guy's Neshaminy XC yesterday, Cat1 SS. Hopefully we're not seeing #singlespeedisdead. Last 2 MASS races, French Creek and Bear Creek, only had 1 Cat1 SS. I was the only registered rider for this one, so I dropped back and started with my age group, 50-59. J.R.A. since I had no one to race and it rained a bit before the start and really came down during lap 2 and 3. Slippery roots, logs and rocks kept the pucker feelings high. Didn't finish last. Reluctantly stood on the top step and had the podium all to myself.

Need to stop eating whatever I want as the belly is starting to show again. Maintaining is so much harder than losing.

Weight
01/02/22 Starting weight = 235.4
05/13/24 previous weight = 199.6
06/10/24 current weight = 199.0
Diff: down 0.6 for the week, total lost = 36.4

Haven't been consistently checking in as I haven't been weighing myself. Exercising and eating mostly good during the week, but weekends are my downfall. With the July 4th weekend behind me and the eating, drinking and not exercising that occurred, figured I better step on the scale and see how much damage I need to fix.

Already had plans to add running back into my routine. Picked up a new pair of running shoes yesterday and will be following the C25K plan. Haven't run since Jan of this year. Will see how long it will last. I stopped due to knee pain that started after I purchased the last pair of shoes. Switched from New Balance to Brooks.

Recommitting to eating better, i.e. stop snacking on too many cashews, sticking to the eating window, and no vending machine at work.

I know what to do! I've done it before, just need to be disciplined and consistent.

What's up losers? How's everyone doing? Hope some of you are still out there making progress towarda those goals. On a side note I have a few codes for free blue mountain bike park passes that I won't get to use let me know if your interested.

Has anyone on here looked deep into g-flux?

Ive maintained 185-190lbs for three years now and body fat % was 12% last time i had it checked. All this done by eating slightly more.

Many people eat a low energy flux diet and wonder why there are no gains.

I'd definitely take one or two if you're offering!

Things are nice and steady. August was a poop show diet wise but coming out flat was pretty fantastic. I'd love to be 170 lbs for the Marty Endurance race but I'm not going to be upset if I end up sticking around 180 for the rest of 2024.

This season for me has been interesting in that my weight has been up just a few lbs compared to this time last year around 3-5 lbs but my general fitness on the bike is definitely higher.

The big difference this year I see was all the miles/hours I did in January and then another intense month for July. In between I’d been challenging myself with some harder longer rides especially the last 4 weeks leading up to this past Sunday. We did 101 mile road ride at a pretty decent pace for the climbing (and wind!).

I’ve even gotten back on the MTB a few times and trying to get my confidence back to consider Martys endurance race again (which is where I got injured last year. ).

I love being outdoors in the cool fall weather to ride but hope to mix in some proper cross training like Bodyweight sets. And the rower.
