Hoping a Specialized Stumpjumper Evo pops up in the classifieds here so I can get my hands on a cheap bi...

...so we can catch these criminals.

Ride Bike Shop in Andover was hit Sunday. Apparently there were three other shops hit since Friday. Be weary of a spanish-only speaking couple!

If there’s any reports of what’s been stolen post up here so someone might be able to spot it in CL or FB.

Bike thieves should die a horrible death. Just saying

The state police are involved for sure. I’m not sure how they haven’t gotten caught yet. These are high dollar bikes which can elevate the class of crime.

What exactly happened ? Did they walk out the door with them, or take a "test" ride ? Let us know which bikes to keep our eyes out for.

Ride's Instagram post said she does the distracting and he grabs the bike and flees. I can't see how someone with a booty like that can get far very quickly but idk.

When they posted that last picture I thought she distracted them by pretending she was in a full upper body cast and needed medical help.
 
I feel some deja vu going on here. Didn't a similar looking couple do the same thing a year or two ago somewhere?
 
Always the same. Spanish. Ask a lot of weird questions about bike prices and then someone just snatches and runs. No bikes have ever been recovered, they're on a container to somewhere before the cops even show up

I've never met Jim Vreeland or been to his shop, but my gut feeling is that as fast as they can grab a bike and run, he can grab, mount and pedal a bike faster than they can get in 10 seconds.
@jimvreeland has anyone stolen bikes from your place like that?

I think the point is you're distracted by the woman and don't notice the bike missing until later and you start reviewing the camera footage and figure out what happened.

They are good for sure. My ace in the hole is the wawa next to our shop. Most days there are 5 cop cars parked ten feet from our door. We've had to call the police a handful of times during the angry days of covid and in most cases the cops are there in 45 seconds.
 
Can you install an electric lock at the door, when engaged by a barrage of weird question lock the door and wait for the thief to try and get through with a bike?

NFPA code requires a clear exit route. The door can be locked for incoming, but must release upon exit. Cameras are about the only way to capture them. Social media helps spread their picture around, hope somebody recognizes them and makes that phone call.
