Bikes Direct Fat Bikes

We just got in one of those Origin8 Crawler things with the Nuvinci hub. I was expecting it to be a colossal piece of poop but it's actually a pretty cool bike. Check them out maybe.

Thats interesting but I'm not sure I want that Nuvinci hub. I would like the option to go single speed without replacing the rear wheel.

These look interesting. Just wondering if most riding is done at Ringwood, Jungle, Ramapo - this would be a snow bike, but would I get much use out of it, just wondering how they climb, since that seems to be all there is on these trails

So I would like some insight on frame size. Stand over height for the 15 frame is 27inches and 29 for the 17 frame. The stand over height on my anthem x is about 31 inches.Don't really know what size to get.15 or 17 they still have 15 available.Never road a fat bike nothing to compare to.
any thoughts will help. Was thinking about getting the 15 as per there recommendations/size chart
previously road, 17" 26"wheel ht , 16.5"29er ht, 52cm road bike and a med fs 29er.
thanks Glenn

Dirt Dawg, they climb pretty well. Maybe a bit slower, but traction is awesome.

Glenn, sizing should be similar to a 29er, because fatbike tires have the same outer diameter as a 29" tire. One reason to go smaller than normal would be for snow riding, where frequent dismounts are likely in deeper snow.

I guess I will go with the smaller frame. Can always make it work with a set back post or longer stem.It wont be my primary ride just there if needed.

Just ordered the matte black 15"

Damn, son! I didn't expect you to be on the fatty craze.

All this, absolutely. It's pretty insane the amount of climbing traction they offer. And ridiculous in the rocks. I've been at Wildcat with mine after riding a 29er and wondered where all the hard rock gardens went. 😀 Still working on knocking some weight off mine.

Better to size down for fatbikes? Loved the bear grease but $6000 is a hard pill to swallow. I want one to mess around in and this looks great for the price. My only concern is getting the bike around, my rack can't fit shietttt

So if I ride a 17.5 29 er and I buy a 15 inch fat bike it won't be too small . Or is it just easier to dismount ? I always wanted a fat bike and this is an affordable opportunity to try one I just want to make sure I get the correct size . Thanks for any input.

Does the BD website offer up any sizing guidelines?
If it were me, I'd size it similar to your 29er, unless you plan to be riding alot in deep snow. Top tube (or effective top tube) length is more important than seat tube length in getting a good fit.
