Biking New Years resolutions

Happy New Year everyone!!!

If there's a thread about this I missed it but I'm sure someone will let me know. Any biking resolutions or goals for 2019?

I just want to ride more, but for that I need some kind of numeric goal. This year I want to ride at least 3,000 miles (I rode 1,206 mi in 2018) and I want to ride every week (not sure how many weeks I rode in 2018 but I know I had several stretches that I didn't ride for weeks).

What's yours? Accumulate 100 kg of mud on your mtbs instead of the 50 kg this year?

lol i dont think i had anywheres near that much mud on my bikes this year(i dont ride in mud, but im not afraid of puddles either 😛), does trying not to blow my bike budget on broken parts count? (also boring).

in all honesty i havent given it much thought, im planning to race some this year, probably start with short track and then do most of the H2H series races. Maybe the bs50 again? depends on if keith wants to do it or not . . .

You have been riding really strong, come out to short track races and give the H2H a go.
Regardless of how you place, racing gets you on the mtb scene and the chance to meet people, which can be rewarding.

I will likely do just that, see how i land, the motivation to race last year was weak (not sure why . . . maybe planning a wedding and all the BS that goes with it???) but hoping to pick up where i left off this year, i spent last year building my stable of bikes (went from 1 road and 1 mtn bike to 3 mtn bikes and 2 road bikes, and 1 old 26in mtn bike which i dont really ride anymore . . .) so i should be all set for a steady year of riding.

I'm seriously considering a race this year, too. Might as well at least try one.

@Pampa , how is the job situation?

Hopefully you are settled in CO. Luckily my kids are older and my job is stable, which allows me time to ride. I have no cycling resolutions other then to keep enjoying what I do and try to connect with others.
Cheers

Hi @pooriggy ! I still haven't found anything permanent around here. Some consulting projects but it's been hard than I thought. I have a couple of solid opportunities in the works though.

I have to say, before joining the team I never was much of social rider but after joining it, I really enjoyed the rides with fellow team mates and the open rides that the team organized. Like many things, I didn't really appreciated that until I didn't have it any more. Here's different and, while I've tried several riding groups, I haven't latched on to any.

I have a few rides that I want to do.
Doing the Marty’s fat 50, just reg’d for the grape crusher 100k. Would like to do HOH and monkey knife fight as well. Overall I want to ride As much as I can and enjoy life.

Change your name back to RobW. RobW rode more and raced bicycles.

I enjoyed the couple of group rides - nice to say hello.
Since my social skills in a group setting are somewhere down around slug, I'll just mention that
all the hellos, and friendly (er, actual) teasing are appreciated.

So will try to make a few more of them, to work on my riding, and chatting. Maybe not in that order.

Thinking a couple of triathlons for this year - will mix it up, on and off road. Best learn how to swim first.

Had more total hours of exercise this year than the last 4 - 2013 was a much bigger year, would like
to get back to that level - so let's put the number at 400 hours. heavier bike numbers than running (or swimming)
and please let the trails dry out down her in the mid-north-half-west-center section of NJ.

see ya'll at short track.

Mine is to do at least five trail maintenance days. I used to attend them regularly but after we had kids leasure time was scarce enough that I usually chose to ride instead of trail maintenance. Near the end of this season I did a couple aimed at fixing a couple of usual wet spots in Allamuchy. It has been amazing to see the difference the trail work has made in keeping those spots dry as it keeps pouring rain.
On top of that I could definitely benefit using my upper body.

I'd like to build better fitness this year. I managed to ride fairly regularly in 2018 but I'd like to take it up a notch. I also want to make more of the group rides. I rode alone 99% of the time in '17 and '18 and group rides are just more fun.

My goals are actually the opposite, I used to mostly ride alone then this past year were almost all group rides. It's easier to ditch a ride when no one is expecting you to be there. So this year my goal is to ride Chimney Rock at least 40 times and usually solo, it's the closest park to me.
