its anything but legit, I believe unauthorized and getting worse. the hole they dug under that log is deep enough for someone to get really hurt. I doubt the park would be pleased at all.

They go through this every few years at mercer. They'll be filled and plowed soon enough

I think so......

Yes I think he should be, but I would think he hear about it by now. Good guy for all that he has done. I was thinking of going over to the ranger office and give them of what is up. Ho! thanks Mick for all your hard work for Mercer.

I saw a couple young teens working on these a while back when I was riding at Mercer. They were really proud of their work and not wearing helmets. I tried to explain to them that the tunnel was really dangerous and unsustainable and that they should check out JORBA and use their skills to build trails that are legal and won't be destroyed. I'm pretty sure they didn't take the suggestion. They seemed like nice kids just trying to have fun and not seeing the big picture of potentially being badly injured and creating problems for the park.

Gotta ruined it for others your cool I hope the people who made this kick your ass for snitching

I saw in one of your posts that you are 15 and ride at Mercer a lot, so I'll be kinder with regard to ass kicking. This kinda thing has been going on since before you were born. Kids build shit on County property that they think is cool but is unsafe. Kid goes out and breaks his neck on cool shit and kids mom calls a lawyer. Kids lawyer sues County for allowing dangerous shit that county didn't know about. County closes park to everyone because kid got hurt...everyone lost. So you see, everyone has a stake in losing a fun place to ride.

Thanks for the effort Megatron. Hopefully it's just off Mercer Property and won't effect us riding there, I'm sure Micks already been contacted about it.

+1000

Unfortunately, it's on county property, not on the van ness tract. 🙄

Place is in the "bmx pit" just west of the power lines at the west playground... The pit was there forever, but these jumps etc have been built up a lot more recent...

I dont see a big deal just kids having fun now it looks like they are done with the thing that goed under ground so its no a big deal and people have to ruin it by saying im gonna tell the park rangers really got nothing else better to do really me idc what you to the underground thing because im not the one who worked there ass off poor kids who made this are gonna be mad I bet

May I suggest the use of punctuation?

It is a big deal because it's not their property. You wouldn't dig holes on the front lawn to your school would you? It is a privilege that we can ride there, not a right.
As Frank already explained, this sort of thing ruins access for everyone and puts cycling in a negative light in the eyes of land managers.
Maybe you're not old enough yet to understand the big picture. No one is trying to ruin anyone's fun.

I weep for the future of the English Language.

Steinert doesn't teach that. I should know, I got edumacated there! 😀

Even at 15 you must know we live in a society that is lawsuit happy and things like this are easy targets. Mercer is a heavy used park and the area where they are building is close to parking lots, hence even heavier use, so they are buidling in a place where there is a high probability that it is going to get torn down. If you are going to put the time and effort into building something, wouldn't you want it to last. Find a section of woods not in any park and do your thing. It stands a much better chance of lasting that way. Don't be stupid and build stuff 10' behind someones townhouse and wonder why your stuff gets torn down. Be smart about where you pick and your trails (jumps) can last a long time.
