Hi!

I'm from Ottawa in the Great White North (apparently there was a big snow storm there today... *shudder*) and am down here for the next 6 months or so for work. Of course I brought a bike down with me. 😀

I can tell it's going to be a great summer! I've already met the nicest Mean Irish Guy ever; he was kind enough to loan me a tube this past Sunday at Allaire and hence allow me to salvage a great ride on a gorgeous day. Other than Allaire I've been to Hartshorne and 6-Mile, and I can't wait to try out Sourlands and some of the other trails. I live in Long Branch, so I can see myself dropping by Hartshorne after work on a regular basis.

Hope to meet more of you fine folks... I'll definitely keep my eyes peeled for group rides. I'm always on the lookout for interesting trails, and while I've got a pretty decent sense of direction, getting lost on a trail at sunset when it's near freezing kinda sucks. Not that I know anything about that.

Cheerio,

- Lorenz

Was good meeting you on the trail the other day at Allaire. Welcome.

bonjour!

ca va?

bienvenue sur le site!

so far it sounds like you've seen some good trails already. the sourlands will be much different than allaire, hartshorne, and six mile but still really good fun.

I've met more biking friends lending tubes or powerlinks than anywhere else. (except maybe this forum.) we're a good people us mountain bikers.

Take off, eh?

Welcome, hoser.

My wife is French-Canadian Montrealer...I have to beg for the French, though.

(there's just SOMETHING about 'get naked for me, cowboy' in FRENCH)

c'est la vie.

This somehow brings to mind the old live ac/dc album where bon scott says "and I say say in my perfect french, whalah, wee wee, and the eifel tower" (english translation intentional)

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome!

MTBTyler: I ride 26" wheels. The whole 29" movement hasn't hit Ottawa with anywhere near the ferocity it has here, and given that my home trails are really... er... jagged... one would think that more riders would be riding the big wheels to take the edge off the rocks.
