Bootie/Shoe cover Size?

I want to buy a pair of booties for my MTB shoes, in order to accommodate the thicker soles, would it be advisable to go up just one or maybe 2 sizes?

Look for botties that are designed for MTB shoes, Pearl Izumi Elite Barriers have MTB specific ones. Road ones will work but the sole will get shredded if you hike a bike. As much as I think pearl izumi stuff is meh, their accessories are their high point.

Yeah I was thinking about that, but I mainly want to use these for "gravel" rides, so hike a bike isn't really an issue.
and the road ones are much cheaper.

Booties run crazy for fitting. Bring your shoe into your LBS and try them on. They should be a tight fit. If your shoes are muddy, bring a plastic bag to cover your shoe as to keep the booties clean as you try them.

There is a strong difference between road and mtb booties.

Truth. My first pair of booties were [intended] for road shoes (trying to save money, natch). They lasted a grand total of 3 commutes before a seam on the sole began to tear. Meanwhile, my mountain specific ones have lasted 6 actual months of use, on road and off.

various colors of duct tape have extended the life of mine.
That and not riding. Its a new month, almost......might be time to inventory equipment, since it is high 50s today.

I have a pair of pearl izumi barrier mtb booties I am looking to sell. Too bad you are so far. I do work in Manhattan though.
