Brewery news

I agree with all of this stuff. I bring my kids, and like to think they are well behaved. I usually don't stand on tables either
yah, this doesn't seem out of line of anywhere we go except most places we go don't mind if you bring games (altho a lot of them have games available for use)

Children of any age shouldn't be allowed at a brewery. I went to Other Half in BK and a woman was breastfeeding in the tap room. Like it or not it's trashy.

Dogs shouldn't be allowed either. Everyone thinks their dog is great but they aren't. I understand the need for service dogs but if you need one to get through the day then you probably shouldn't be out drinking.

Just because you can do something doesn't mean you should.

I think it’s trashy to call a mom feeding her kid trashy, but that’s just me.

The breweries have cultivated the scene of bringing your kids along to play while mom and dad drink. Many of them have nice outdoor areas with jungle gyms or other games for the kids. It’s become an alternative place for adults to hang with kids in tow, because bringing kids to bar is not really going to work out. Brining your kids to a small indoor brewery space isn’t going to work out either IMO, it needs to be spacious enough for it to work.

And of course allowing kids does not excuse shitty parenting or lack of parenting, which I’m sure we can all agree is not acceptable anywhere. I agree with the limitations in the above post and others, because as a responsible parent the last thing you want to do is be a nuisance to others around you. And all of the things listed seem to fall under nuisance behavior.

Readington has a policy where there are no kids allowed in the winter months when the outdoor areas are unusable. I do not disagree.

I saw a mother breastfeeding the other day and was thinking "Man, such a natural thing yet people used to get angry women would do this in public."

I guess people still think it's weird? How did society go from breastfeeding being a natural part of raising a child to something that's trashy?

I go to breweries once a week minimum, there's typically kids and dogs there and it's never an issue. Sometimes our leashed cat pisses off the dogs but they deal with it.

I don’t mind who is there at the brewery. But, they need to understand that they are bringing their kids to a place where adults are likely getting drunk and acting as such.

I was at the new brewery in high bridge a few weeks ago with my brother in laws. We were just bullshitting about sports and dropping F bombs like any other person with a few beers in them would. I turned around and saw a few parents with kids at the table giving us the stink eye. Assuming because f bombs.

I would side with the parents on this. People drink at Applebee's would it be ok there? Just one of those things, i try not to curse out loud when other people who aren't with are in earshot. Just my $.02

Is your issue really with kids and dogs? Or is it w/ the supposed adults who may not be monitoring them properly? Cuz, ya know, I've seen adults at breweries w/o any kids or dogs acting absolutely terrible.

I'll be damned if someone tells me even tho my kids and dog are allowed I shouldn't bring them. I'll follow the rules of the establishment, not your ad hoc rules thanks.

Agree to disagree... I have done a bit of that in this thread when it comes to kids being allowed In breweries
I'll both agree AND disagree.

For me, if I'm somewhere (regardless of what type of environment) and there are kids who can hear me, I suppress my f-bomb generator (including all other bad words too). Somehow I can drink and control my words at the same time.

And yeah, I'm not perfect, if one slips, I apologize. I dunno, for me that's just being a responsible adult, respecting those around me. Goes hand in hand with controlling my kids and my dog.

Time and place. Nothing wrong with the breastfeeding at all. Call me crazy but 9pm on a Wednesday night in a tap room in Brooklyn is probably not the time or place. To be honest I thought more people would cry about the dog comment.

Not dumping on you hoss (how can I, don't even know ya!) but all your arguments seem to be subjective to your wants/beliefs.

I.e. just cuz you can, doesn't mean you should. Or, I'm ok w/ breastfeeding, just not at certain times of day. Etc.

I'm sure we all have many thoughts like this, but they're personal and we can't possibly expect the population as a whole to bend to each of our individual whims. Just not possible.

right... because hungry babies know about clocks and calendars and women shouldn't be allowed out of the house to live life and socialize after they've given birth.

i pretty much think you said that to troll soooo

The baby doesn't but the mom sure does. My blanket statement stays firm. No children of any age should be at the brewery.

Edit: it's a place where people are under the influence and too many things can go wrong.

you could have just said "no kids" and left it at that... you went the extra mile and called a woman breastfeeding trashy
