Brit in Morris/Somerset

Hi. Was a daily rider. Moved to US two years ago. Spent a year looking for a house, and another making it livable, and have now returned to the trails after 2 years off. Hit three trails in the last two weeks (Six Mile, Lewis Morris, and somewhere in NY)

Will explore more trails in NJ.

Welcome to the colonies 😀

Plenty of riding, not too far from you! Check out Chimney Rock for more climbing, and Mercer County Park, for more flat and fast....

Oh, and follow Manny's signature link for a video taste of the area parks!

See ya out there!

Thanks, yes, I see Chimney Rock on the maps and will try it soon. It is VERY close - I work in Morris and live in Somerset.
I like that Google Maps suddenly discriminates between paved and unpaved bike trails (green and brown), which helps pick them out, so had prioritized the brown lines at Six Mile and Lewis Morris.

I'll have a look at the videos in a second.

Welcome to the States and back to riding! There's quite a bit to explore in Jersey ...have fun!

Thanks. My daughter wants to go to Six Mile Run based on the video link. Will be a good way to get her into MTB.

I'm English. Lived here 18 years. Further north check out ringwood, jungle habitat, waywayanda and allamuchy for more technical terrain.

Yes. Was looking at some of those on the videos. Someone at work said Allamuchy today.

I recognize Sprain Ridge, NY, from the videos - must be where I went two weeks ago. Was great.

I'm dual Brit/Yank, also live in Morris. Welcome to Joisey! Happy to show you around. As others have said, Chimney is great...20 mins away and a little bit of everything...climbs, rocks, streams, tight/twisty. within 30 mins there's Mahlon and Ringwood to the north, Allamuchy/Stephens/Deer Park/KVSP to the west, and Six mile/sourlands to the south. Add 10 more mins and you have Wawayanda and Jungle. Tons of rail trail options too if you want something kid-friendly and mellow (Patriots path, Columbia trail, Sussex Branch, etc). You're situated quite well. I'll be riding this Sunday AM if you're interested. PM me if so.

Jersey rocks, for sure!

Welcome aboard and to NJ,
6 mile is a blast for flow as is white clay in Delaware.

welcome to here!

morris county has a TON of great spots. what town are you working in?

Welcome aboard! Some friendly advice. If you take your daughter to Six Mile try to park at the Canal Rd lot and start on blue. I have taken some newbies to the rt 27 lot and they were far too intimidated to carry on. Ride on. 🙂🙂
