Checking Luggage: Adventures in Time Bending 9178

Congrats! Noah is too damn cute!

Just say'n 🙂

If I could make one recommendation....

Having your baby sleep on your chest while rocking in a hammock will make every stressful thing go away...... Best therapy in the world. 2c.

Dan-

Congratulations!

The advice my mother gave me when we had our first daughter was this: Don't listen to any advice. Every kid is different and almost all of us have no clue what to do until we experience it first hand. Then we just wing it.

I then asked my mom if I should at least listen to her. Her response was "Hell NO, look how you turned out". Thanks Mom.

Congrats Chris to you and your wife
glad to hear all is well
this time goes by ridiculously fast even though at times it seems the nights never end and shit literally hits the fan
enjoy your time with Noah and welcome to time bending stage 2

^ Now that there is good advice.

Congratulations! Cherish these early years...they fly by. Next thing you know their driving cars and going to college. That's where I'm at with my 2 girls.

Whoa I still have a fan out there! Can't leave @Dominos hanging.

I had good intentions of keeping up this thread when I started. Its not that I haven't had the time or lost interest in keeping it up- rather after spending a few days with our new guy, I decided the whole parenting thing is a pretty intimate experience and blogging about it really isn't for me. With that said, I certainly can still check in a make some updates here and there.

Anyway, we're loving parenthood over in the RU household. Some extra sleep here and there would be nice, but I'm not complaining. I don't have much experience with babies, but from what I gather Noah is a good one. He's generally very happy and doesn't fuss too much. He has his moments but overall he's been awesome. He is growing super fast, which is definitely bittersweet. We miss the tiny newborn, but its great to see him grow and be healthy.

Priorities have shifted. I haven't spent much time riding bikes and I'm ok with that. Some of the goals and things I was targeting at the beginning of this thread have been shelved for now. We've been spending doing other things like visiting friends and family, and going on weekend getaways. We still get out a lot, which is important to both of us. I've picked up and odd new hobby of tinkering with tractors at my FIL's hunting property up in the Catskills. I picked two up for almost nothing and got them both running well. I enjoy mechanical stuff and I've found that tractors are cheap and easy to work on. Wayyy cheaper then bikes- I'm into everything including a few attachments for a fraction of what I have into cycling kits alone.

No update would be complete without some pics, and since the wife and I aren't big social media users here are a few:

This.

I think for me, letting go of things, deliberately, was hard after having kids.

All things in life come and go. You'll be back at it eventually. With babies, you take things one day at a time!
Sounds like you guys are enjoying life with Noah, and that's what matters the most!

Second pic of Noah looks just like you do when someone wants to change race categories with about 7 minutes to the start time. Definitely your kid.
