Clayton Park Conditions

Conditions were great this morning. Frozen and fast! At least until my mechanical nightmare...after my chain broke for the 3rd time I did the walk of shame out lol.
On the way out it started to get a little soft but still pretty good. Tomorrow should be fine. Early when it's frozen is best.

Rode Clayton for the first time in 4 years this past Sunday. The trails were in great shape and fast, at least going down hill. I didn't remember so many hills / climbs but they were well worth it as the downhills were fast and fun. It's also not as rutted up as some other local parks.

I'm surprised this park is getting any real play. There were only 1 or 2 other cars in the lot and we only saw one other biker (a few hikers though). I know it's not a long trail but has a lot to offer. Just sayin'.

Most people who live along 195 go to allaire because it has more trails. Clayton is kinda tucked away in the western part of the county but locals do enjoy it.

Clayton isn't a "destination" park by any means, but its an awesome before or after work spot to get a good workout in.

Mini hartshorn with no people, dogs, egos, and washouts. I love the place.

Anyone ride here recently

I haven't, to answer your question 😀

but...this place is down the street from my house 😉

The trails should be good today, it drains well. Perhaps a little mud in the field and a few little spots but nothing major.

Clayton was surprisingly slick yesterday afternoon. Maybe freeze/thaw but not usually a problem with the soil here. Only a couple really muddy spots that don't have proper drainage. Some really slick corners so beware. Conditions may be better today, especially towards the afternoon.

Does Clayton drain well?

I'm only a half of an hour away from there from my work and thought of stopping by after to ride but up here in Somerset, we got a lot of rain last night.

Thanks!!!

Yes, Clayton drains really well. The only problem spots are usually in the field section and a couple of mud holes in low spots. I would guess that it will be pretty good later today. 🙂

Cool....looks like the rain may hold off until overnight.

Going to stop by after work...any best way to tackle the park?

I took a look at a trail map from here and it looks pretty straight forward.
