Ok I think I'm into this. I have an old Karate Monkey I don't ride very often and I'd like to take off the super aggressive tires I have on it now and move them to my son's bike. Then make the KM more of a light duty speedster...

I've never tried this before, I know in theory I should be able to put 700 tires on these 29er rims and I think the bike is old enough that the rim width is more old school, but any suggestions for confirming this before I make a trip and buy them? Magically, without removing the tires on them now would be great. They're Stans ztr Arch ex29 and they are currently wearing 2.3" tires, that's their limit iirc from my LBS

They should be fine, I did the same for a Soma Juice, is now a townie bike for MrsQ rocking 42mm tires.

So I have never actually tried this, but I see some Stan’s 29er rims built up into gravel wheelsets. I have a set with older arch rims, I’ll see if I can try the Maxxis 45s on them this weekend.
